I agree that I hate TP8i and have struggled for over a year with it. I swore this month I was going to cancel but haven't transferred all my contacts yet. The suggestion to click on 7i was something I didn't realize was available. I am going to try that and then decide what to do.
Thanks,
Jonee Hanson
Paul Gaddes...Thank you for the direction to go back to7i. You just do not go back to 7i without reconfiguring your Explorer settings. It is about a 15 minute job on the phone. The tech was extremely courteous and it is not a "do it yourself" task. I voiced my dissatisfaction with 8i, he listened but did not comment. 8i is a great program for a VA however "real time" is "real time" even when you are on a lake, especially when you are drowning or the boat has a hole in it.
Well Allen, let me see if I can break it down for you. TP is far too proprietary for my taste...It syncs with very little, is full of bugs and the customer serviced is, at best, ok. If you need a contact management program that is loaded with trite, overused and ineffective templates, then TP is for you. I prefer to create and save my own templates. As far as ROI is concerned, there is absolutely no correlation between the use of TP and success (that I have found)...I could just as easily use your financial analysis to support the argument for Outlook. As I said, I was a client of TP from 6-7i (and was even a beta tester for the remote version); after I learned that the US Dept of Defense ran most of their divisions on Outlook I figured it could "handle" my business. So, I bought a new computer, purchased Outlook with Business Contact Manager and went to work to master the software. It is robust, flexible and lends itself to all kinds of software development. Now, having said that, let's let our mutual friend, Brian Copeland weigh in on this agree to agree that there are many ways to have a great data base..FYI, I have attended a couple of your ed sessions in Nashville, years ago at the GNAR convention (I am on the faculty at GNAR and am an educator myself)
Thank you for your encouraging comments Allen. After more hours than I care to think about in searching and researching for a database program to replace TP6i we finally took the leap of faith and upgraded from to 8i. I also appreciated your input on a VA. Now my question is how does one go about obtaining and hiring one?
Not quite as beautiful day here in Waterloo Ontario but very typical until the snow flies and then we can enjoy the great Canadian winters we experience. The first blanket of snow (for those not familiar with the site) is exhilarating and adds a new dimension in life.
Enjoy your day and weekend!
Pat
What is the basic difference between 7i and 8i? Are they not fading out 7i?
I think that 8i is the cat's Meow! I love it. I use it every day and have added some great tips here for you.
1. You can open and edit Multiple Records with Mass Open (Saves a lot of time for me)
2. You can drop and drag contacts instead of manually re-entering them.
3. You can email your contact right from your contact list.
The new system does take a bit of getting use to, but for me it is well worth it.

Thanks for your comments...much appreciated!
"I also appreciated your input on a VA. Now my question is how does one go about obtaining and hiring one?"
I can suggest 2 good ones, providing their services match your needs. I have worked w/both and highly recommend them.
Let me know what you're looking for a VA to do and I'll recommend. In the meantime, if you need to see the full range of services a VA can offer, go to http://KimHughes.com. She has an excellent site that outlines the full range of services a VA can provide an agent.
My eBook (only $29.95) has a chapter on VA's and specific tips on how my CyberStars(r) use them.....
Have a great weekend!
