Hi

My name is Maria and I just recently completed the EPro course. I have used (or rather not used) Top Producer for about a year. I signed up primarily to communicate and keep in touch with past clients. I also liked the feature that automatically updated the listing information.

I find the contact management cumbersome. I am familiar with Outlook and after completing the course had decided to transfer to a web based Outlook. I was just approached by Advanced Access and before I start the tast of transferring and building another database, I wondered if you had experience with the three products that you could share.

Thank you.

I’m ashamed to say I completed the e pro course some time back and yet, I am at a total loss as to how to resolve my e mail hosting.

To begin, I am in the process of learning all of the features of Outlook 2007. The next thing I have to do is decide who I want to host my e mail. There is just so much info out there. I have spent hours online trying to figure it out. First I learned that e mail aliases were free. For instance in my case my domain name is HeffernanRealty.com. Now based on what I learned in e pro, my e mail address should be, and is (INACTIVE) BrianH@HeffernanRealty.com. Now I have discovered that while aliases are free they really only point to my e mail address above, and therefore when I respond to their e mail, Outlook 2007 will automaticity use my e mail address not the alias. This may not work for me. Is my only other option to purchase additional e mail boxes?

· How do I decide as a novice, which hosting service to use?. I know the quick answer is to decide on what features you want and look for that product. I don’t know exactly what services I need, as I’m unaware of all of the bells and whistles available. I will want to receive my e mail on both my Outlook and handheld and I am led to understand that I should use, imap as opposed to pop3. There are so many nuances to each server/hosting service. I feel totally lost in this whole process. Is there any reasonably priced, good service, real estate oriented hosting services out there? It seems the less you understand the more it’s likely to cost. I am also interested in implementing third level domains such as, 123MainStreet.com. Does this mean you have to buy a different domain for each .com. I was also hoping to utilize Outlook Mobile Service which is a feature of Outlook that enables you to send and receive text and picture messages between Office Outlook 2007 and any mobile. I want to use this because I am going to start using a service that gives anyone with a text enabled hand held, a code # on my real estate sign, the option of a voice recorded msg re the prop details, text details, or the option to contact the agent. In any event I am going to need to manage, file, and save this info through Outlook. This may not be relevant to the hosting service I choose. I don’t know. I used to have Top Producer 8I but never used it. I feel I will have more control through Outlook. Once I am up and running I will start looking at real estate related add on software for Outlook, content etc. So I would appreciate any suggestions in this area also.

I’m sorry, I’m starting to ramble. My main question was where to find a competent and reasonably priced, real estate hosting service. The second part of the question was relating to the necessity for multiple e mail accounts and weather I need them or not. I guess you could say understanding my options. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. My e mail address above is inactive. My current e mail is: BrianBuru@aol.com. Thank you in advance for your time.

I have just come back into real estate as a full time career. I downloaded TP8i and am using it however I believe it should have been traded in with the cash for clunkers when it was available. There has to be a contact management program that is easier to use. I have used TP since it was a DOS program so I know that there must be something that won't give me carple tunnel just navigating through copious screens. HELP!

Verizon Wireless unveils Droid smartphone

Verizon Wireless may finally have a phone that can win some respect from iPhone fans. This morning, it unveiled the Droid, a Motorola smartphone running the new, 2.0 release of Google's Android software.

This device -- shipping Nov. 6 at $199 for new and renewing customers who sign up for at least a $70 voice/data bundle -- represents two big changes for Verizon.

First, the company seems to have recognized that relying on Research In Motion's increasingly uncompetitive BlackBerry devices for its flagship phones wasn't working. Second, in touting Android's "open development" and 12,000-plus third-party applications, Verizon had to abandon its usual control-freak restrictions on phones' functions.

(Analyst Michael Gartenberg, marveling at the absence of Verizon's usual "Vcast" services, Twittered that "If VZW would have done this type of deal they'd have had iPhone I suspect.")

As Verizon's promotional site (warning: Flash intro and soundtrack) and Motorola's spec sheet outline, the Droid features some interesting hardware, some absent from many other Verizon devices: WiFi wireless networking, a slide-out physical keyboard, a 5-megapixel camera with flash, a 480-by-854-pixel display (the iPhone's measures 480 by 320), and a 16 GB flash-memory card.

The Droid's software, in turn, brings a few intriguing departures from the usual Android toolkit. For example, the Droid will include a Verizon-supplied tool to synchronize data from a Facebook friends list with its own address book, matching a key (but somewhat problematic) feature of the webOS software on Palm's Pre. And a visual voice-mail utility will let users play back and delete messages in the order of their choice.

Most intriguing of all, the Droid and other Android 2.0 phones will include free turn-by-turn Google Maps navigation -- something only possible on Apple's device with expensive add-on applications. Unlike those programs, Google's application will also provide live traffic data and satellite and Street View photographs. If standalone GPS units didn't look doomed before, they do now.

BusinessWeek's Steve Wildstrom has already posted a first-look report on the device. I hope to do the same myself soon. When I do, what would you like to know about it?
