The Spirit of Sun City Center - SCC Security Patrol |

A great example of why Sun City Center, Florida is the premier active adult community is the recent Hawaiian Luau luncheon held in the Community Hall.
Approximately 400 members of the patrol filled the tables for food, fellowship, and entertainment. Each member contributed a food dish item which made for a variety of tasty treats.
Chief of Patrol Martha Finley and her team of volunteers organized and coordinated this event.
The Sun City Center Security Patrol is made up entirely of residents that work a minimum of 2 hours per month patrolling the residential and commercial areas from 6AM to 2AM, 7days a week. The patrol cars are made possible by donations to the patrol by residents and groups that are aware of the good work done by the patrol. No police powers, just eyes and ears with a radio to reach the dispatcher (also volunteers) who in turn can contact law enforcement and/or emergency responders.
How many volunteers? 1400 plus! Is that impressive or what? Nearly 15% of Sun City Center's residents are members of the patrol.
The good work of the Security Patrol is a main reason that Sun City Center is constantly one the safest areas in the Tampa Bay area according to Hillsborough County Sheriff's statistics. This helps make a great place to live and play.
