SCC German American Club Fasching Celebration |
Over 400 Sun City Center German American Club members and guests gathered in the SCC Community Hall to celebrate fasching, a German tradition in the Carnival season leading to Ash Wednesday and Lent.
Pictured here in traditional dress are Kurt Nolden, GAC President, his wife, Elfi Nolden, and club member, John Haeger.
A hot buffet which included Kassler Rippchen preceded an evening of dancing, entertainment, and a parade of those attendees in costume. Fastnachskuchen, the tradtional dessert of fasching was served.
Guests came from Venice, Englewood, and Cape Coral, Florida, as well as various locations in the Tampa Bay area. One guest was flying home to Hanover, Germany the following morning. Several visitors from Germany were in attendance.
Prizes for costumes were awarded with the audience voting for their favorites.
The GAC has 700 members and is one of the most active clubs in SCC. Another reason Sun City Center is known as the premier active adults communities in the United States.
