Florida Property Tax Cap Deadline is Monday, March 3.

Feb. 26, 2008

Did you move in 2007? Have you filed an application to take advantage of the increased homestead exemption and the newly enacted portability of the Save Our Homes exemption?

You must file your application by Monday, March 3, 2008.

Florida voters approved Amendment 1 last month. The tax reduction will be automatic for those qualifying homeowners. Those homeowners that moved in 2007 must file applications to receive the benefits.

How: Go to the nearest Hillsborough County Property Appraiser's office. Call 813-272-6100 or go online to www,hcpafl.org. Residents of other counties should call their respective Property Appraiser's office.

If you go to the Property Appraiser's office you must have ID with your address on the it, such as driver's license, voter registration card, etc.

Homeowners can file for an extension if they miss the deadline. The cost for an extension is $15.00.

Should you have a neighbor, friend, or relative who moved to a new residence in 2007 it would be very thoughtful to ask if they have filed the application.
