Reflections & Resolutions...

This time of year is synonymous with these two words; reflections & resolutions. As I "reflect" upon 2007, I can't help but realize that it was a year of "correction" in many areas aside from real estate. The lessons and messages available to me, if I choose to listen to them, resonate with such themes as; change, discomfort, uncertainty, fear, balance, priorities & faith.

As I look forward to 2008, I am confident in the knowledge that it is only in times of great uncertainty that change can and will take place. For it is ONLY when the pain of staying where we are becomes too much, that we MOVE on!

I was fortunate to attend one of Richard Flint's seminars at the recent Triple Play Real Estate Convention in Atlantic City and subsequently purchased a few of his tapes and books. In his book, Building Blocks for Strengthening Your Life, Richard writes about the three questions we must ask ourselves if we are to have any type of meaningful relationship with ourselves:

  1. What do YOU really want for your life?
  2. Why do YOU really want it?
  3. What price are YOU really willing to pay to achieve it?

I've been asking myself these three questions for over a week now and the answers are coming whether I like them or not. I'll keep you posted as the NEW YEAR arrives but if you find the psychology of human behavior as fascinating as I do, please visit http://RichardFlint.com.

"Triple Play" Convention Review

The state associations of New Jersey, New York & Pennsylvania recently hosted their "Triple Play" Real Estate Convention in Atlantic City, NJ. As an annual attendee of this convention, I was impressed by this year's quality of speakers and the timeliness of their topics. But there was something even more impressive this year that caught my attention...

We have all been to conventions and seminars where our hosts have asked everyone to mute or turn off their cell phones out of respect for the speaker. And despite this predictable common sense formality, there are always those who consider themselves and their "business" more important than everyone else. This year's "Triple Play" attendees finally broke the mold! Oh sure, there were the one or two exceptions that "forgot" as they were hustling to the next seminar, but for the most part this year's guests were polite, respectful and obviously interested in LISTENING to what the speakers had to say!

What's my point? This year's Silence of the Cell Phones had a loud & clear message; We are here because we are serious about our business and we are hungry for as much information as we can get to help us succeed in this market!
