Finding a Good Contractor

Whether you've just bought your new home and want to make some changes or are working to get the place in shape before you sell it, finding the right contractor can be the hardest part! Most people don't have an extensive list of every kind of contractor they might need. And looking at phone book ads or a bulletin board full of business cards really doesn't make you feel warm and fuzzy.

The Federal Trade Commission has a web site that's a great guide to finding and choosing a contractor. It can tell you how to check references how to pay them and just about everything else you'd want to know about how to get the right person for the job.

Check it out. And don't forget to give me a call or send me an e-mail if you're at a loss. I recommend professionals all the time and usually have a short list of people I've used or my clients have used and recommended. And, any time you've used someone and are really happy with the experience, I'd love to know. You can't have too many good workmen on your list!

I have recently put my house on the market, but before I did, I had to finish up some projects that had been pending for a while.  We needed to finish our basement (by adding some cabinets) and finish up a fireplace on the back patio.  I wasn't sure who to use, so as I was researching, I came across this local website called novapros.com and they had contractors listed on there that they had done research on to say they were the best in their field.

I actually called up Details Home Services to finish by basement, and Cory did a fantastic job.  He customized the cabinets in such a way that the new owners can add speakers and such within the cabinets for entertainment.

Then Ultimate Concrete came out and finished a stone fire pit that matched the rest of the patio.

They were both wonderful to work with, had extensive knowledge about their skills, and was very friendly in doing the work.  Both of them even "cleaned up" after themselves so I didn't even know they were there, except for my new completed projects.

My house was only on the market for 2 weeks before a contract was put on it.  I recommend this website and these contractors to anyone.

Thanks Details Home Services and Ultimate Concrete.
