SoCalCRS Blog An informational site for CRS members, and candidates for the CRS, in the Southern California CRS Chapter region. Members and non-members of the SoCalCRS Chapter are encouraged to ask questions, post comments and become active in our chapter.
I recently attended the Real Estate Bar Camp held in Orange County in Newport Beach, along with a number of other CRSs. You can follow all the comments about the event on Twitter by following #rebcoc
This was not a Southern California Chapter of CRS-sponsored event, but I came away with some great learning that I wanted to pass along.
Did you know that your CRS profile on-line in the National Database will now include your profile links to several social media sites?
Those of you "in the know" about the advantages of participating in social media networking are probably members of one or more of the most popular sites (I personally recommend the first 4)
ActiveRain - blogging site
LinkedIn
Facebook
Twitter - microblogging site
Hi5
Orkut
MySpace.
Now you can include profile links to those sites in your on-line profile. Plus you can add two additional ones (I included my Plaxo Profile)
Simply log in to My Advantage on the CRS site and click on the link to Update Your Member Profile. Add the correct links from the individual site then save.
REMEMBER: You can follow the SoCal CRS Chapter on Twitter - @SoCalCRS

Twitter is becoming very much a part of mainstream social media networking. You surely have heard of it, or perhaps are even tweeting on Twitter now. Many folks use it for its social aspects, and there is certainly a great deal of value in expanding your on-line social network and letting folks know who you are and what areas you service.
But Twitter can also help you in your business if you choose to make the effortto use it..
I wrote a recent article on ActieRain that you may find useful if you are using Twitter now. And it might give you an incentive to get involved with Twitter - after all, it's free.
Here's something else you may be interested in if you want to know MORE about social media networking (Twitter, Facebook, LInkedIn, and other tools and websites) and how it will help you grow your business.
Southern California Chapter of CRS is sponsoring a webinar series (12 weeks) beginning in February. STAY TUNED FOR MY NEXT POST so you can register. SoCal members will be receiving an email about this terrific series today (I have taken it myself and I can tell you it is WELL WORTH the low cost).
And you can follow ME on Twitter if you wish at Twitter.com/jdowler
The Board of Directors for the Southern California Chapter of CRS held its annual retreat and strategic planning session on November 21, the day before the general membership meeting. We felt it might be appropriate to share a HAPPY HOLIDAYS messages via video with the membership.
But there were a few gaffs along the way getting to that final product. Nothing major, but we had a good laugh. So here are our first few attempts at creating the holiday message video. One person, who shall remain nameless, commented in one of the bloopers (it's hard to hear) "I can't keep holiding in my stomach." We had to try 4 times to get one we felt we could use. And this was at 8 am.
