Road Runner

Posted at 4:51 PM on Aug. 18, 2006

Roadrunners, common to the New Mexico landscape, prefer walking or running and attain speed up to 17 Miles per hour!

In 1949, the roadrunner was adopted as New Mexico's state bird. The Roadrunner is famous for its shining purplish plumage, long metallic-green tail, crest of featthers on its head, long pointed bill, strong feet and the blue and orange patch around its eyes. Often called the paisano or chaparral bird, it can be found throughout New Mexico and the western deserts.

Roadrunners

  • Love to eat lizards, frogs, grasshoppers, small birds, mammals, insects and are even fast enough to catch snakes!
  • They are great parents! Young of all ages fit comfortably in large nests made of twigs and feathers.
  • You know when a roadrunner is stressed out when you hear a harsh, rattling, bill popping cry.
  • Roadrunners are 18 to 20 inches in length.
  • A long tail helps roadrunners keep their balance as they speed by.
  • The life span of a roadrunner is 7 to 8 years!

Home Inspections

Posted at 4:36 PM on Aug. 18, 2006

Home inspections are for the Buyer. The warranty if any is for the buyer. Regardless of who pays for the inspection the process is critical to a smooth home acquistion process. The Realtor should not endorse, specifically recommend and should not be affiliated in any way to any Home Inspection company.

The relationship should be between the inspector or inspectors and the buyer. The buyer should address with the inspector what is and is not covered as companies vary in both inspection and warranty scope of coverage.

For our area, we have a list of home inspection companies That we are aware of listed on our web page under the "useful links page".  We encourage Buyers to make a determination of which company they wish used prior to the home selection process.

New Mexico PhD

Posted at 10:12 PM on Aug. 15, 2006
New Mexico is the state that has the highest percentage per capita of people with PhD's. Higher than any other state! The tradition began with the many highly educated scientists and engineers employed by Los Alamos and Sandia Laboratories, and continues because of the laboratories as well as technology or research- based businesses. Forbes Magazine recently named Albuquerque the best place in America to build a business based on low business costs and an educated workforce.
