Has anyone been successful or even tried to give something away on their website to try to increase site traffic? I'm not sure it is even legal but I was thinking of giving away a Gift Certificate a month. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Joe, It would seem a worthy venture. I did something similar last year when I redid my website. I targeted my acre of diamond group with an invitation to visit my site.......respond from a preset page and then be entered in adrawing for that month to win a $ 100.00 gift card. I did it for three months and was so disappointed with the results I stopped. I was getting barely 10 responses out of a hundred. This was free $$ and with great odds to win. I even published the winners on the preset site page.

I prefaced the campaign by snail mail first with the invite with the hopes of garnering more e-mail addresses.

I'm still looking for a better way.........site traffic is down....leads are down.

Just my experience.

I'm going to 2nd Paul's comment. I've tried thing similar to that in the past on my website and monthly newsletters to SOI; given gift cards for trivia answers....tired restaurants, car washes, movies, hotel nights at casino. Responses came from same people over and over getting the free stuff. Really wasn't accomplishing what it was meant to. If you some up with something else, let me know.

First the visitor traffic on your web site needs to be there. That means your site should be found on major search engines organically in the top ten results of a relevant real estate search. Once that is happening and you offer a "call to action" - make it real estate related - something like "if you find your new home through me I will provide a free one year home warrantee at closing". That way you get serious prospects registering and it costs nothing until they do business with you.

Yes we give away free blogs and get free content and live demo out of the deal at SocialMediaSystems.com/blog - the freebie demonstrates our ability to rank for any real estate search: then they want that power for their own site:

We also recomend to all our clients, especially Realtors to give something away to get lead generation; example
