Murphy North Carolina,The Mountains around Murphy N.C. |
The Nantahala National Forest, This national forest, located in the southwestern part of our mountains between Waynesville and Murphy, contains more than 516,000 acres, sometimes taking in huge chunks of land and sometimes consisting of relatively small plots. If you look on the map of the forest,in some places it's broken up that it resembles a psychiatrist's ink-blot test. This means that when you travel in this part of Western North Carloina, you're going to consantly br entering and leaving thr forest. While this might not make managing this forest easy, it certainly makes for a lot of diversity.Elevations in the forest range from a high 5,800 feet at Lone Bald in Jackson County to a low 1,200 feet in Cherokee County along the Tusquitee River below the Appalachian Lake Dam. Last week I wrote about the Tusquitee Range District. Each week I will write about each District,There will be 3 more too come.Murphy North Carolina Your Mountain View Specialist Jack Shingler Coldwell Banker High Country Realty 866-835-8500 or 3
