Personally, I've been looking for some sort of home based business that will not interfere with my RE business. Seems everything I look at is a little flakey. It's either a shady MLM program, or something that requires a bunch of cash.

If thought about virtual tours, charging for home measurements, and staging.

Any thoughts???

What about a home based business that can actually coincide with your RE business?
Hey Rick,
My name is Geoff, I found your post here on RealTown and thought you could benefit from My Online Neighborhood. We specialize in creating Online Neighborhoods that are built for the use of everyone in a community. From local restaurants, garage sales or Neighborhood discussions about schools, government or merchants the community adopts it as a current everyday source of local information.
Where does this relate to Real Estate? As a host of the website you are the sponsor and EXCLUSIVE RE Agent of the Real Estate section on the website. Post your featured homes and market yourself as the go to Real Estate Agent for all the community's needs.
Now, the part of this business investment where you can actually make money off the website, a much needed profit in the plummeting Real Estate market. Every community has local merchants and vendors that need to be in front of their customers everyday just like RE Agents and our websites are packed with ways for them to advertise. If you sponsor your community website and have merchants buy advertising on the site then you receive their advertising costs.
This definitely isn't a MLM program but it does require some upstart cash to invest but it is a true home business that with some upfront TIME invested can yield monthly residual checks.
Combining a way to make money and position yourself in front of the community for the future when the Housing Market recovers from these rough times, My Online Neighborhood can do this for you. You will be the Real Estate Agent who knows and cares about their community.
We have plenty of very successful RE Agents right now that are capitalizing off this same opportunity. Check out one of our example sites www.mycollegepark.com , this was a brief description of what we do but visit our website at www.MyOnlineNeighborhood.com .
If you have any questions give us a call at 1-800-470-8730 or send me an email Geoff@myonlineneighborhood.com .

Try something you can do freelance, that way you can work your hours around your own time.

I've heard good things about eLance.

Another thing to consider is becoming an ACRE -Accredited Consultant in Real Estate, a RealTown approved vendor. You learn make money by getting paid upfront, sometimes when there is not even a house to be sold (staging, move/improve, short sales, refi analysis, tax assessment issues, just to name a few. )

If you look to your right, all the approved vendors show up on a rotational basis, so if you don't see ACRE, check the approved vendors list for all of them, or I'm sure Rich can help you out as well, as should you decide you are interested you'll get a discount.

Not only does it make cash flow more positive, but you are still in the same line of work where you set your own hours, and you use the pc in your jammies from home for most of the work.

Good Luck!

Rick,

How about this idea? I've noticed several agents in my office assisting Owners by finding tenants for their property and then managing the property. The Owner's pay the Realtor a flat fee for advertising to Find-a-Tenant plus they offer $200-300 to the Realtor who Brings the qualified Tenant. A stream of income is produced by managing the Rental Property for the Owner. The agents in my office charge 8-10% of the monthly rent.

What about just adding products to the RE business you have now.

I have found that adding BPO's and property inspections helps to produce additional income "while surviving the storm". It also keeps me current on market statistics. Let's me know of "possible" upcoming reo properties, for investors or clients I am working with that are looking for distressed properties.

OK Everyone here is the winner....I found a company that allows me to put video in my emails, news letters and pays me to market my business. Everytime someone clicks on the bottom of my email letter to market their business, the company pays me 20% every month that they use the system. I got a check for 1,200 dollars last month and it is growing. If you want more info check out this site www.onthemarklive.tv . No other marketing company has ever offered me money to market with them and I do have to market my business anyway so why not get paid?
