Hi Dick...copy of your Palm OS just arrived, but I haven't looked yet. If answers to the following are there..or another site, save some keystrokes and just point me in the direction....thanks in either case.

Two questions: I have Outlook configured (at home) as my "main" email address. I do have "save on server" in place. Now I want to have Outlook pass new emails (or a text msg?) along to the Palm (755, with Palm OS) as they arrive. Is the setup for this in Outlook, Palm, or both?? Where can i find a guide to setup??

Secondly, I have my "main" system at home, offen carry a different laptop to opens, expos, etc. Outlook is presently resident on the "main" PS only. If I load Outlook onto the laptop (again with "save on server" on) will I be able to access the Outlook mailbox from the laptop??

Thanks...and thanks for putting together the CD!

Frank,

There's not a book or do i cover this on mt DVD. Everything you want to do can happen, just the first time you send your 755 for email it will download a copy of all emails on the server. After that it should just bring in email that has not already been loaded to the 755. I understand why you leave email on the server and do not have a problem with that. The first download could be painful but you can change setting to help. First we want to set up Versamail because it has the options we want for you do work your system. Read below;

Palm OS, if you are using Versamail, which some carriers label it as "Email" you can change a few setting. Go to your email, tap on the "Menu" button, looks like a set of steps going into the basement, then scroll across looking for "Options" and under Options you will see "Preferences". Tap on "Preferences" and scroll to "Incoming", at the top of the page you will see "Get" tap where it says "Entire Message" and switch it to "Subject Only". What happens now it will download only who it's from and the Subject line. So you can quickly delete if junk or open it and tap on the small envelope at the bottom of the page to download the body of the email.

Let me know how you make out.

Hello to Dick and the group!

I want to give a "heads up" to everyone using Treo's. I use the 755 so that is the only one I can speak for with certainty. Recently, after a hard reset, my Treo would no longer

Sorry, guys!

I hit cancel but I don't think it worked, do you?! Anyway, the rest of the story is this: After the reset, my Treo would no longer sync with my Outlook Calendar, Task, Contacts, etc. I had my computer tech take a look and (long, painful story later) it turns out I had a dormant trojan virus on my computer. It did not transmit to my Treo but it did corrupt the software on my computer that it uses. The tech tells me it had probably been on my laptop for a long time and it was not until we tried to correct another problem (which entailed a sweep for malware) did it activate. He also tells me this is on the top ten of dangerous viruses out right now.

Moral of the story: If you have sync problems with you Treo, you may want to have your computer checked for viruses using malware. Evidently, this is over and above normal virsus scan programs. Also, he tells me that if you suspect a virus has been activated, shut off your computer immediately. You probably already know all this but better safe than sorry!

Thanks!! Will keep notes & share when I work through the setup. Likely won't get to it for a few days, but seems straightforward. First download shouldn't be too bad, as I'm just phasing in to Outlook. Not a lot of history or baggage.

Concerning Outlook and my Treo 700wx. It is not in sync. Could it be when I switched to gmail from earthlink server that the gmail will not make the connection? or when I upgraded my Outlook to the 2007 version from 2003? I can get emails on my Treo if I manually go on the internet with it and click on mobile.gmail but I did like the former feature of it just popping up every 30 minutes with new emails.
