I have a Plantronics Discovery 925 and went to AT&T to see if it would pair with the Centro. It did with no problem.

Does anybody use the I Phone? I have heard so much hype about it and wondered if that would be a good option. Of course, then I would have to get the D Key and hence, once again, have 2 devices vs. one to make sure I had with me as I left the house.

I had a TREO before I lusted after the iPhone which I got as soon as the service provider here was bought out by AT&T making the iPhone available in my state, Now that they have come out with the new iPhone there have been improvements in the applications and now it is more reasonable for someone in real estate to consider this as an option...although I am not convinced at all that it is better for sales than the TREO or BlackBerry. Since I do commercial consulting and seminars it works just fine for me (and it is indeed a cool appliance with much better access to the Internet). Some friends do not like the phone quality -- that has not been a problem for me. Once again it comes down to what you will really use, day to day.

Google Maps is a neat program, but be aware that it requires the use of data that you have to pay for as you use it. And if you are not careful, it will continue to run after you think you have stopped using it, which eats up data minutes. And it inserts itself in front of everything when you are using a "search" function on your Centro, so you must scroll past it each time. That is a nuisance to me. I am trying to delete it from my Centro but I can't figure out how. The usual delete procedure does not seem to be working. Google seems to feel that once they have you they do not want to release you -- sort of like AOL does on a computer. I still have AOL junk on my computer that I can not get rid of, after almost a year.

I would perhpas get an i Phone simply for the cool factor without knowing whether or not it would be better than the Treo. Rignt now it is a toss up between the Centro and something like the i Phone.

replying to Larry, who asked who has an iPhone:

I do. And I'm as in love as I was a year ago when I bought it. I have always had a DKey (my MLS doesn't support Supra-by-phone). As for everything else, it's a typical Apple product--technologically superior and mega user-friendly. Web browser works very well--no sweat looking up listings on MLS, etc. The calendar and contact functions are superb. I have only one complaint: mine is the old verison using Edge and I wish it were on 3G (my wife's is) which is much faster. However, I grew up with a 300 baud modem to start with and am used to waiting for downloads. I have also tried some of the new low-cost third party apps (a mileage program and an expense tracker) and they work well. The iPhone is the real deal.

I am 6 monthes from my contract expiration on my Treo 700wx and hoping to make it with it to the end. Why are we still faced with 2 year contracts when it seems with the advancing technology we need an updated version every 6 monthes? Currently my problem is the phone is difficult to charge as the connection to the wall charger or car charger is not good (I have tried 3). I charge up nightly and keep an extra battery as my phone tends to run battery down by 4pm daily.

I have been shopping ebay to get something that I can use if this totally dies (no insurance ). I have been carefully watching the ongoing discussions about the best and still I don't know! My carrier is Alltel and my Treo has the windows operating system that is rather slow. My office mates have a Treo with Palm operating system he loves and the other has BB Curve which she loves. Help would be much appreciated.

Hi Iris,

You might want to go on-line to RealTown and look for the "phones" or "mobile phones" discussions to check out all the comments and recommendations. The 3 Amigos do a great job in getting the comments all in one place. That's my 2 cents. Judy
