• Apr. 21, 2008 - Living with or without computers in Real Estate
| I have just finished getting my new computer up and running. I had no idea the stress involved in the process of purchasing and setting up a new "brain". Have you ever felt so left behind and wondered how it happened? I didn't think I was "out of date" but boy was I wrong. I generally purchase a new computer every three years or so and it is no big deal. Well, not anymore. I have been telling everyone how quickly Real Estate is evolving, and I forgot it is the computer that makes that possible. It is not just Real Estate that is evolving either. Computers are going with it. It has only been 2 years this time, since the last "brain" was purchased, but I am amazed at the difference in the necessary "operator skills" in order to get the thing back up and online. I have had trouble with the wireless part from day one, but it took a very nice you man, ie: geek, firedog, whatever, to get all of the parts to communicate nicely with each other. I really admire these young people who dedicate so much time to folks like me who are adequate to operate these machines but who are quickly finding out it takes a "specialist" to set them up anymore. We all had better beware, we may be good at what we do but the technology that allows us to be good is fast leaving us behind. Well, many jobs have been fazed out so I guess it is time to create some new ones. Don't wait too long to find out for yourself how far behind you are..... don't wait too long to get that new computer to help you sell you way into the future. Carol Harris |
