Are the Wrong Basics Back?

Feb. 25, 2008
Real estate agents are learning that sales basics are back; but are they doing the right things or just those things they used to do ten years ago?

Creepy, Scary Digital Marketing

REALTORS taking very bad photos of listings and putting them online. What will they think of next?

Technology: Sales or Marketing?

Feb. 16, 2008
A recurring theme I'm hearing lately from some clients is that they are in need of a "system" that they can use to "automatically" prospect their new and past clients. You know, a database or something with some sort of "drip marketing" campaign tools. Isn't there something like that, where I can just put my clients into it and 'forget it' while it keeps sending stuff to them. Well, yes, there are things like that. Databases. Campaign managers. Drip email tools. Autoresponders. Even integrated versions of all of the above. Problem is: none of them really lead to sales.

Ever heard of YouTube?

OK, let's see: Maybe, just maybe, even if you didn't own a Blackberry, only checked your email once a week and still read a newspaper (shriek!) you still might have heard of YouTube... maybe just because Google paid some 7 BILLION dollars for it...

So the downsizing business is still strong - considering the majority of sellers last year had NO children under 18 at home. Ok, you get the idea...

Making Sense of it All

Feb. 11, 2008
Today I had an absolutely exhilerating class with a great company in the Washington, DC area; about 500 agents in the class - at the Ritz Carlton, no less - and great audio/visual equipment (two screens, stage lighting, etc). And the best part of it all (which wasn't me sweating like a fountain on stage...) was that after the class, many of the agents in the room came over and thanked me for helping them "make sense of it all."
