Feb. 28, 2008 - Best Neighborhoods
| While living and working here in the Foothills since 1996, I have come across many wonderful neighborhoods. My intention is to highlight them as time permits. Keep in mind the "bests" I blog about here on this site are those I have seen or know about that have wowed me, but definitely not to say they are the only good ones. That includes this neighborhood category. Other beautiful neighborhoods I hope to get to soon include: Kalithea in El Dorado Hills with lots overlooking Folsom Lake and the Sacramento Valley, Hacienda De Estellas in Shingle Springs, and Highland View and Highland Hills in El Dorado Hills. The homes for sale and prices are as of the date I write the blog, so if you are interested in a particular neighborhood and the blog was written more than 2 weeks prior, please email me for an update on available listings and prices in that neighborhood. |

May. 15, 2009 - Highland View - El Dorado Hills
 |
| Highland View, El Dorado Hills, CA - Once covered with rolling grassland now sits the wonderful neighborhood of Highland View. This semi-custom neighborhood saw it's first homes built in 1999 and it's last in late 2004. There are a total of 246 home sites here on large (minimum .5 acre) lots. Home sizes range from approximately 2900 square feet on the single stories to 4242 on the 2 stories.
I am a bit partial to this neighborhood as it is where my husband and myself chose to make our home. We lived in the next neighborhood over and watched it develop from the beginning. One of the things that attracted us was the amazing views of Folsom Lake and the Sacramento Valley! Now that we live here there are many other reasons we count our blessings. We have no Mello Roos. Our HOA dues are only $35 per month. We have a beautiful park. Our local schools are highly rated.
For updated views from the top of the development towards the valley visit a local web cam at http://backyardviews.com.
I encourage any fellow homeowners to comment here on what they like best about the neighborhood.

Feb. 25, 2008 - Beatiful Custom El Dorado Hills Neighborhood - The Summit
|

|
|
The Summit, El Dorado Hills, CA - This beautiful neighborhood is situated on the northern end of El Dorado Hills off Francisco Boulevard. So exquisite an area that it was chosen for the location of the 1988 Street of Dreams Home Tour for the Sacramento area. There were a few homes in there before that time but really took off in the 90's and since. There are approximately 190 home sites inside the gated community ranging in size from just over 1/3 acre to 2.33 acres and only a few of those lots remain undeveloped but tightly held by their owners. The homes range in size from just over 3000 to just under 11,000 square feet. Some of the homes towards the back of the neighborhood have Folsom Lake views adding to their gracious ambiance. Even though I feel such a sense of awe when I drive through the streets, I have always felt a friendliness too. Maybe it's the little neighborhood park and tennis courts that make me think of family. There are HOA dues of $130 per month but no Mello Roos. Currently there are 7 homes for sale in this wonderful neighborhood ranging from just under $900,000 to $1,950,000. For more information on any homes for sale here in the Summit or other developments of its quality in our area, please contact me.
I encourage all Summit homeowners to comment here with their favorite things about living in the neighborhood.

Jul. 5, 2007 - Serrano Beauties
|
El Dorado Hills, CA - If you are familiar with the area, you may have noticed that I have not included any of the beautiful custom homes inside the gates surrounding the Serrano Golf Course. However, if you are unfamiliar with the area, you may not understand why I would even bring this up, so I'll begin by giving you a little overview. Serrano is a very prestigious master-planned community and is considered one of the largest in Northern California. It encompasses 3500 acres and is approved for 6500 homes. There are several gated neighborhoods each with its own character and style, along with homes of varying prices and sizes currently starting at $424,000.
On the highest point of those 3500 acres rests what is often referred to as "Upper Serrano". Here is where you find the custom homes built on sites ranging from 1/3 acre to over an acre. Here is where you also find the championship golf course and Serrano's beautiful country club. Sales on these lots began in 1995, in 1997 it was a "Street of Dreams" location as part of the nation's premiere luxury home tour. Would you think there would be some "best finds" or "best views" in Upper Serrano? Trouble is that the homes in this neighborhood "wow" me on a regular basis. There are so many stunning and amazing homes for sale here, I have a hard time singling them out. Some have beautiful views of Folsom Lake and the Sacramento Valley below, some have views of the golf course, and others have a view of century old oak trees surrounded by beautiful landscapes. Right now the highest priced home is listed for $3,395,000. There are still several lots for sale as well. If this is an area you are interested in please call or email me as I would be happy to send you information on homes that meet your criteria within this community.

Jun. 4, 2007 - Best Neighborhood - Sterlingshire

|
Sterlingshire, El Dorado Hills, CA - Recently featured in the Sacramento Magazine for "Great Neighborhoods" was El Dorado Hills very own Sterlingshire. So what really makes a great neighborhood? For me that would be its beauty- the homes, the landscapes, the setting, its amenities, and the feeling when driving through the streets that the residents care about where they live. In this case I'm probably a little biased having had the privilege to live there myself for eight years, but first hand knowledge is also a benefit and Sterlingshire definitely fits the criteria. The subdivision began in 1990 among majestic native oaks and the Allegheny Creek which meanders through the greenbelt many of the homes back up to. All of the homes are custom and sit on .5 acre or more.
One of the things I admire about Sterlingshire is the involvement of the residents. They work together for the good of the neighborhood and when you look around it's evident the residents care. With its own homeowners association run by a board and several subcommittees which handle such things as hospitality, the social events, landscape approval and improvement, etc., they are always looking for good men and women to jump in with help and ideas. They play together as well. There are four big social events planned every year where you really get a chance to meet and know your neighbors. The Holiday Party in December and the Annual Home Owners Meeting/Party in the summer are both adult only and are held in a gracious resident's home. So as not to leave the kids out there is also the Easter Egg Hunt and October-fest where the whole family can attend.
Some other things you'll find in Sterlingshire include a walking trail that runs along the creek and greenbelt; and during Christmas-time if you drive through the streets you'll find some of the best decked out homes around. There's a book club. And then there's the Bodacious Biking Babes, a biking club started by a Sterlingshire resident who's idea was to get a small group of moms together for a 3-day bike ride charity fundraiser that benefits the American Lung Association called Breathe California. The club has grown to 51 mom's (not all from Sterlingshire) who participate in two annual rides as a group - Breathe California as well as a ride they put on every August to benefit Parkinson disease and the Lance Armstrong Foundation called Ride for a Reason, and several other charity rides on a whoever-can-go basis.
While we lived there I felt a sense of belonging and always a sense of pride to be part of the neighborhood. We moved from Sterlingshire three years ago, taking with us fond memories of those yearly events and the great neighbors we were fortunate to get to know.
One extra benefit for this neighborhood- there are no Mello Roos and home owners association dues are minimal!
I encourage Sterlingshire homeowners to submit their comments on what they thing make Sterlingshire a "Best Neighborhood".

Welcome to my Best of the El Dorado Hills weblog! The Hills I refer to here are the foothills east of the Sacramento Valley. My inspiration for this blog came as a result of my Real Estate profession where touring homes and knowing the inventory are some of the best parts of my job. Though my predominant intention here is to tell you about the homes for sale that have wow’d me, I also want to include what I consider to be among “other bests” of living in this wonderful area. You can search by categories, by clicking on the links below, or click on a tag word under one of my postings for more blogs about that subject. The prices shown on each blog is as of the date written. I'll try and update them when time allows. Please keep in mind that sometimes the pictures don't do a home justice, but they are what the listing agent has submitted to the MLS and what I have to work with. For more pictures or information on any of these postings or for help in locating similar homes available in our area, please contact me by clicking on the “Email Me” link below. Be sure and check out My Favorite Links for more helpful sites. Blog postings with * following the name indicate that the home has been sold and is no longer available.
