Tip # 1 - Blogrolling for Links

Blogrolling for Links......

As "old school" link builders here at DomainDrivers, we were somewhat taken aback when we realized that blogroll links have suddenly become the most fertile ground for building your link popularity that we've seen for a very long time.

The fact that there are now thousands of real estate blogs (we're trying hard to catalog as many as we can) with blogrolls is astounding. By and large, the blogrolls are still very "short" lists on most blogs. The links are there for the asking, literally.

The top real estate bloggers are already using blogroll link exchange, in one form or another. Essentially, many of them are actively exchanging blogroll mentions with each other. That's why you see their sites listed on so many of the most popular blogs.

This activity not only enhances their visibility in the real estate blog world, but it gets them a lot of link popularity that is not encumbered with "nofollow" tags. WHile posting a comment to a "dofollow" blog is beneficial, it is highly beneficial to be listed in the blogroll, which appears on EVERY PAGE of the blog. The chances of getting the link indexed, and getting traffic from it, is much improved.

1) Create a queue of blogs that interests you. We suggest starting with your state or region, and also select blogs that have blogrolls, in the queue creator. Start "locally", and spread out.

2) Add blogs that are not yet in our database to your Personal List in the BCA. Those might be the other agents in your office, or local colleagues. We currently catalog 1000 blogs, but there are plenty more. We're finding them, over time, but use your local resources, as well.

2) Using the BCA, visit the blogs in your queue, scan the posts, and find an appropriate post to comment.

3) Make a valid, informed comment.

4) Add the blogs that you want to pursue for blogroll links in your Favorites list, in the BCA Queue Review tool, after you visit them.

5) Build a new queue of your Favorites in a few days or a week, the post another comment or two. Make more than two valid, genuine posts.

6) Place a link to their blog on your blogroll. Use the Favorites List editing feature to make it faster to find them. The URLs and descriptions are right there, for copy and pasting to your own blogroll. Note: If you do not have a blog or a blogroll, build a "Favorite Blogs" page on your site and list them, and keep track of that link.

7) After getting to know the blog owner, by posting, send a private email to the owner (not as a blog comment), telling them that you've placed their link on your blogroll, and that you've made them one of your "Favorites". Ask them to link to your site from their blogroll. Advise them of your preferred anchor text, and landing page.

8) Repeat for more blogs….

I would target blogs that have a small but active blogroll list. Those are likely to be site owners, who, like you, are looking for links, too. They need links, and so do you. I think you can see this is going. Just find other willing agents with blogs who are in your same boat.
