Live Chat

I'm a new to the group so I apologize if this topic has come and gone. I'm wondering if anyone has added a "Live Chat" feature to their website. My broker is considering this option. It would be the floor agent's responsibility to log on and reply to live inquiries. There are lots of logistical issues with it so we would love to learn from someone who's already been there.
Thanks, Kris Biessener

I've got a live chat on my realtown blog (google chat) - works just fine for me. I've gotten at least one new client through it.

Kris, I think your broker is on-the-money about adding a live chat option. I mean... if you think about it, if a website visitor has a question, do you think an instant answer (online) would help a prospective customer choose your office over a competitor? With the cost of live help services so low, and the commission of homes high I can't imagine your ROI wouldn't make it worth it.
I'm in the process of reviewing several live help providers for my clients so it's a feature more sites are interested in adding.

Hello, I have live chat on my website, www.astro-realty.com
it is really nice, but it must be monitored. Do remember that..
I personally like Meebo.com, I can log in anywhere and be available.
I will be monitoring this message board. Like to hear what others say. If there was a way to do this and have it connected to my cell that would be great.. Paula
Hello to the group.
The "live chat" conversation is interesting. The considerations are interesting. The notion that an agent or firm would "win the business" potentially by being available online with the right answer to a potential customer's question.......is compelling.
It seems as though, with technology at the level it is currently at, it would be possible to have something akin to a virtual "floor duty" setup. The firm's RealtorĀ® could be in any location conceivably and somebody always be available according to a virtual schedule (i.e. sign up for floor time on a virtual calendar).
Live chat solutions are not all created equal. Some are not so hot while others are very easy to use and are robust. Some of the tech support chat systems are pretty darn good. The good one's are effective.
Has anybody seen or heard of a good ENTERPRISE level chat solution that could be set up in such a way as to be able to provide a organizational level floor duty type solution?

Hello group, If you are testing chat software make sure the client( consumer) does not have to download any program on their side, and treally make it live... and instant... in that if you ask for name , email, reason for chatting etc. they will get turned off... My 2C...

Dave, thanks for the live-help guide. It was very helpful. I tried a free trial with Provide Support. I didn't expect traffic at this time of year, I just wanted to see how it worked. My colleagues enjoyed "testing" me! I found it a bit nerve wracking not knowing if the person on the other end was serious or not. I'm on the fence as to whether I'll pay for the service on my personal site, but I think it would be great if my broker decides to add it to our company sites.

I will definately look into this myself, although I think it is a great idea for the broker webpage. And another way to expand floor time and better interact with more consumers. Something I certainly had not considered previously!
