Hosted VOIP telephone office systems

February 01, 2010

I have had my Toshiba CTX100 Analog/Digital system for 10 years. Looking to upgrade phone system and considering Hosted VOIP. Would like any referrals/feedback that I can get. I understand the technology pretty well, however, have not found a vendor that I am comfortable with. Looking for answers. Thanks,

Been using Aptela for a year plus - not entirely satisfied, but haven't found anything better have you looked at Google Voice? I too would be very interested to fond a good solution.

I have to warn you against Vonage. Voice quality is good sometimes and substandard a majority of the time. I have spent over 45 minutes waiting for assistance from their tech support located in some far corner of the world. If they do finally come on the linke it is difficult to understand them.

I signed up for a year and dropped them like a hot rock after one year and one day.

I would be interested in hearing about any VOIP that actually works well. If you are doing business over the phone it is kind of important that you can hear your clients and that they can hear you.

I am using COMCAST voice now. The voice quality is good but they are only about $ 1.50 a month cheaper than AT&T.

I have been using 8x8 VOIP for about a year but the cost keeps raising, could be taxes. Their voice quality is getting better and tech support is is quicker. However I have had to replace 3 phones out of 8 this past 11 months. Each phone has its own number with it own extension. Pretty bad when the bosses phone is down and I have to wait 5 days before I receive a new one. So far they have not charged me for a new phone. I did have to upgrade my internet service for the fastest speed available for quality. I went to this type of phone service to save money and now it is just as expensive as it was with regular land line service. More when you add in the expense of new phones for VOIP service. Now that my year is almost up, I have been looking into other providers.

I recently switched to Nextiva from a land line. I needed three phone numbers and one of them needed a phone tree( press1 for so and so) (press 2 for so and so). I bought my phones because they are made by Polycom. They make high end quality phones, and the phones can be used with any voip service.

Setting the system up has been tricky. The user interface isn't intuitive and the words used for certain functions don't make sense. Fortunately they're about to release an overhauled user interface. In the meantime, every time i got stuck, I called their support department and they have been absolutely outstanding. I wish other companies would take a lesson from them.

Good luck.
