don't know who they are - on Twitter

I keep getting invitations from people I've never heard of to join them and let them "follow me" on Twitter. I don't belong and have no idea why these people invite me. Sometimes this is really annoying.

Any ideas? btw - they often are not REALTORS, it seems - just people trying to sell stuff; is this like nuisance phone calls? and spam? One such (salesgirl) has the subject line today: (name) wants to keep up with you on twitter. WHATEVER!

I wouldn't consider it an invite or feel obligated to follow them. A lot of the time, they are following you, hoping that you'll follow them. In some cases, they are new to Twitter and are following the users suggested by Twitter. If you're not interested in their subject matter, then just disregard and don't follow them.

It really isn't a big deal, since they can't send you spam if you don't follow them.
