As I recall from several years back it was very, very expensive and very, very ineffective.

I would recommend putting your advertising dollars somewhere else.

Remember whoever you're talking to is a commissioned salesperson too and they don't eat unless they sell you something.

Dan

I've been approached several times - but have not succumbed to the shoppoing cart approach.

I have seen several agents in my market that did the shopping cart / grocery divider marketing thing. But have NEVER seen any of them renew the effort. IMO Buyers & Sellers do NOT go to the supermarket to pick an agent off the shelf.

YMMV

Dan, a few agents, here in Houston, have done the shopping cart thing and the grocerystore receipt thing, and I've not heard of any tangible sales from them.... but it keeps your name out there.
I have heard of a few responses to the ValPak coupon envelopes, but it was a few years ago, and I don't recall if those calls germinated or not.

An example might be, would you do the shopping carts and forego all other advertising? No, of course not.... so you know that it's only to enhance your already-out-there image. Probably zero actual ROI.... but plumps up the pillow...

I think the fact that you never see any of the agents re-up their contract speaks for itself. If this were really a great way to advertise, you would not be able to "get in". Someone would have it all tied up. Put the money into your website, there will eventually be a return on that investment.

Dan,

I thought about doing that too. It isn't cheap and for only one or two stores I wasn't impressed. I think it may depend on your market. I live in metro Phoenix... one or two stores isn't even a dent. I came from a small town in Illinois where shopping carts might make a difference in recognition and branding.. but doubtful will produce anything substancial.

Save your money.. An even better idea is hire a kid to put a flier on cars in the lot while they are shopping on Saturday... its lots cheaper.. and if you have a listing to market in the area a small card on the windshield would be great marketing for the house and for you....

Our Brokerage ran the Grocery cart ad's, and have had no luck for the past two years. This was a very expensive method, and make sure to read the fine print. Your ad will not be on every cart, only a percentage of the carts.

JIm, I did the shoppomg cart for a year and the sign that runs your name, etc for a year. I did not get anything from that effort. There are better places to spend you money, farming, entertaining, vulenteering, . Just my experience
