Anyone at Real Talk has a good list of expenses they use on a monthly bases to keep track for Tax purposes? I think there might have been a post a year or two ago but I don't know where I put it? Please share if you have it. Thanks in advance.
Editor's Note Monthly is not as important as easily identifying expenses by category. On your tax return you will not report your expenses by the month, but by the category. Take a look at the Schedule C for ideas. Just because a category may not be preprinted on the Schedule C does not mean it is not deductible. You can deduct anything that is "reasonable and necessary in the pursuit of taxable income" which is why on the Schedule C there is a category called "other." Identify as many separate categories as possible would be my advice. Here are a few to get you started: Interest on Auto loan, if anyAuto expensesPeriodicals (newspapers, magazines, online subscription to publications like Inman News )Equipment (hammers, nails, etc if used in business)SoftwareBooksEducation and trainingLicense feesLock Box feesBusiness cardsStationeryDesk RentOffice suppliesBrochures/flyersPromotionOpen House expensesE-mail accountsWeb site hosting and design feesSaul
