All well & good. Here are the facts from Hilary's Viewpoint, IMO.

1. Hilary is onboard for a winner. YES. She has to be onboard for a DEM Presidential Candidate to retain any support in the DEM Party.
If the Dems win - she probably gets more power in the Senate.

As a huge supporter of Hillary, I didn't want her to be VP. I thought her
influence on the Senate would be her greatest asset to this country.
I'd like to believe she recognizes that Barack Obama has something
to offer this country that she didn't possess.

But she is "dead" as a Presidential Contender. Expect Obama to nominate her for the "female" seat on the Supreme Court. Nice payback - but also moves her out of the way.

DEAD is quite a finite point of view, Jim. Out of the way of what? There is
no seat on up for grabs on the Supreme Court and I wonder where these
opinions come from - could it be a crystal ball? She would be an excellent
Supreme Court choice - where you'd get that crystal ball, I want one too!

2. If Obama loses, who stands to be the Dem Nominee in 2012? None other than old Hilary girl, who was a "loyal" Obama supporter in 2008.

She didn't win and I don't believe she's standing in the wings waiting. No other
primary candidate has ever done what she's done as far as campaigning.

Never forget the "bad blood" between Bill, Hilary & Obama during the Dem Primary - Bill & Hilary sure haven't, and that's the reason, IMO, Hilary is NOT the DEM VP Candidate. Surely, you have to acknowledge BO & HC would make a stronger, more electable ticket the BO & JB.

I did think that once the campaigns began. But now it looks like Obama
can win this with his own solid judgement. I wanted him to go after
McCain and patronize and make him angry for all to see. But he had
his way and it seems to be working very well.

Look at the ages of the Supremes. Most political analyst (Conservative & Liberal) predict the next POTUS could have the opportunity to appoint 3 New Supremes during the next 4 years.

Jim: the three that you speak of are all the most liberal on the bench...
Justices Ginsberg (75 yrs old), Breyer (70), and Stevens (88) are the most
likely to retire, due to health and age... If these 3 retire, and Obama gets
to appoint new Justices, they will likely be liberals, so the complexion of
the Court will likely remain as it is, with what Saul might call "checks and
Balances" on liberal vs conservative judges...

If McCain is President, then likely he would appoint far more conservative
judges... this would radically change the character of the Court, and for
me, in an intensely unsatisfactory way...

So for sure, if McCain were President, or worse, Palin, the impact on the
court would be immense, as compared to nearly status quo for Obama...

Just something to think about.

Have a great day!

Best regards,

Paul Silver
