I would like to email news articles, and other information pieces, to my prospect databases. My problem: I cannot find a source which permits me to download in an acceptable format (eg .pdf). What am I doing wrong? Even Realtor.org lacks such materials. The "handouts for consumers' are downloadable, are .pdf, but are intended to be printed not emailed. Are there such sources? Is this even a good idea. JimC

Download CutePDF Writer (a free download at http://www.cutepdf.com/) and install it on your computer. When you see something online you want to have in "print" version to email, simply select "cutepdf" as your "printer". It prints the document as a pdf document, save the document and use.

Jim asked: "I would like to email news articles, and other information pieces, to my prospect databases. " JudiB is correct -- you need Acrobrat "Writer" -- which allows you to not only read a pdf file but create one. I'm not familiar with "cutepdf," but there are other sources for obtaining the writer (this is called "Adobe Distiller"). You can get some good deals on e-bay.

Another possibility is to copy then paste text into a Word document, then export the Word document as a pdf file. Most recent versions of Word allow you to do this, and I believe Publisher also gives you this export option. This may eliminate the need for Distiller altogether.

Hope this helps,

Continuing this idea of PDF writers I would like to add:

  • Those using MS Office 2007 have the ability to download an Add-in to Save as PDF or as XPS which is Microsoft's PDF format. These become Save As types in the Office 2007 programs.
  • For those that have Pat Zaby's Marketing Library there is already the ability to "Save as PDF". If you have the program this feature works in WORD even without opening the Marketing Library - so you can save any Word document that way. An advantage is that it also works with 2003 or 2007.

I've talked to a lot of agents that are having success in prospecting expireds, more so than ever. In todays market there are a lot of expired listings to prospect, and agents who take full advantage of the opportunity are doing great despite current market conditions. The best way to get into prospecting expireds is by using the RedX. They provide an amazing leads management program, and they do the research for you to find you the owners information, even if the previous agent deleted it. Its a huge time saver, and as we all know, time is money. Here's their website if you want to check it out. www.theredx.com
