There are some big changes in the works here at RealTown, including our newest feature: Friends!
Having someone as your friend is an easy way to increase networking and keep up with your favorite RealTown members. Adding someone to your list of Friends is easy! To get started… Go to http://RealTown.com and login. Once logged in, click the ’My Friends’ link in the ‘My RealTown’ section on the right side of the screen. A list of all your RealTown friends will appear.
If you don’t have any friends yet, or you would like to add a friend, click the ‘RealTown Member Search’ link at the top of the screen. Simply search for RealTown members by any criteria you choose. Once you find a member you’d like to add, click their name or photo to be brought to their RealTown Profile. You will notice an ‘Add Friend’ link below their photo. Clicking that button will send a friend request to that member. Once they accept your request, you will both be on each other's friend list.
Once you are at the ‘My Friends’ menu, a ‘Friends’ menu will appear on the right. From this menu you can access:
My Friends: All of your RealTown friends
Friend Requests: Any request from another user to become their friend
Pending Request: Requests you have sent to other users that have not yet been approved
Friend Settings: You can restrict access to your friends list, and alter the friend approval process for your account.
We are still in beta mode, so there will probably be some small changes. We plan to integrate the “Friends” feature with our other RealTown services (such as mail, communities, and groups) soon. We will also be adding custom RSS feeds so you can see all new activity from all your friends with the click of a button.
While you are at it, you might want to take a few minutes to beef up your Profile under the Edit Profile link. ...your RealTown Profile will be gaining a lot of visibility and you'll want it to showcase your credentials and personality.
If you have any questions, concerns, or ideas for improvement, please let us know at Admin@RealTown.com.
