 Email Letterhead

I discovered a website that builds email letterheads containing much of the same information that is in signature blocks, plus company logos. Can anyone comment on the wisdom of using email letterhead instead of using signature blocks at the bottom of emails?

Marty, I first saw an email letterhead when my coach sent me hers, and I was impressed.  So I ordered my own, and after three requests to the company finally got a finished product that I was happy with.  I don't know about the wisdom of it, but I like the idea.  I have sent it to a few friends and they have had positive comments.

I have been using email letterhead for years and have had many positive comments. Here is the company I have used:

How does this differ from setting up a signature in your email program-I use Outlook. You have to use Advanced Edit that will launch Word and you can insert any graphics or text you want. The only problem I have is a lot of times because of a simple photo or graphic, my emails end up in their spam folder. Noreen & Wayne Prudential Holmes & Kennedy Somers, NY www.noreenandwayne.com

If you are using a letterhead, and it's activeX format, it takes time to download to the recipient and can be an annoyance :)

That's the exact reason that I went away from the graphic e-mail. I was using it for a while, and the people that received it really liked the look of it, but some were ending up in the spam folder.

Both the signature info and letterhead have proven their place for me. For initial contact or contact follow-up I use stationery purchased from Ovitz Group, address below. The file is small, download time is negligible, and it gives a real professional impression with my picture and logo. Downside: It requires HTML format, and can't be applied in replies. Then the signature information is the best, just so the information is included. Also, I'm sure clients probably get tired of looking at my face just to get information, which is what they really want, so after a few contacts I usually drop the letterhead. Here is the web address of the company I use: http://www.theovitzgroup.com/stationery/about.html

It is ironic that what is old is new again, at least in our world of IT.."dumb" terminals, (thin clients) are coming back too...

Being an IT consultant to the SMB/RE markets here in Charlotte, managing and securing company networks, I suggest and implement strict email policies, as they are one of the easiest paths for infection, data loss, etc..

Now, back in the day when Al Gore invented the internet, plain text email was the norm, then graphical/html, etc...People discovered how to exploit/infect using active content, and now we're seeing a trend, I advise and personally use, plain text.

This does several things: reduces the size of the message, speeds things along, increases the odds of it actually making it thru the filters/scanners, etc., and makes it stand out against the background of chaff out there...

I'm slightly right of paranoid, and make sure that ALL my email coming into my box, gets converted to plain text, and your fancy html/graphics gets stripped..If it want to actually "see," it, I can download it...

So, play with it and make sure that your intended audience can and will, actually "see," it, otherwise go back to plain text and save some time, money and aggrevation...
