Hi E-pro family,

I will be opening my own brokerage firm. Please send me some feed back on a office policy and whatever would make me and agents sucessful. I have been licensed for three years and have not really had a broker. I want to have only 4 to 8 agents and only one office but I want to be the best broker that I can .

Hi Tammy,

Funny, I am doing the same thing. I have been an agent for 11 years and am studying now for my brokers license. Was the test hard?

I also want to have an office and just a few agents working for me. I have been steeing up my new company at the same time I am studying.

I called the D.R.E and my local association for information on being a broker. They used to have information available but dont any longer. It was a brokers pamphlet. It gave the basic information on being a broker.

Well, Good Luck Tammy.

Karen

Hi Tammy,

Congratulations. I am prepping now for my broker exam in CT. So, was it much different than taking the agent exam?

I, too, am considering starting my own brokerage firm with a handful of targeted agents. Am interested to hear what others have to say about starting their brokerage firms.

Thanks,

Hello All,

I have recently started my brokerage Sept. 2007 just in time for the market to stall.  As of now, I am a one-man operation. I have been practicing real estate for 4+ years now.

I too am wrapping up my ePro and getting ready to take my ABR.

I am trying to put together my Policies and Procedures but haven't had to time.  I recently became a member of my local Chamber of Commerce and Better Business Bureau. E&O is important.  I am also trying to rally small broker-owners in my area also bounce ideas from. Importantly, find a buddy broker owner to work with if you can to help when you're not around.

I am currently operating out of my home office until I am able to bring on 5 full time brokers. Have them put it to a vote to move into an office. To attract Brokers, I will practically give them whatever splits they want (within reason of course) :)

Good Job on passing your test. I have been a Principal Broker for the last 5 years. My only advice is to think everything through before you pull the trigger. Their is a lot of responsibility, liability and expenses when operating and owning your own brokerage. Good Luck.
