I just got my ecopy of PC Magazine today (there is no other way to read mags than this now) and saw this article that I though you might like. I'll give an overview:

  1. Shrink Your URLs- Due to the short 140 character space, the bulk of your message can go on a link to a website, blog site, video or you name it. Good apps for this are tinyurl.com, is.gd, ow.ly and bit.ly.

  2. RT=Retweet- Copy someone else's "tweet" by using the RT. To use this just put RT@name in front of their tweet and post it yourself.

  3. Direct Messaging- By using the DM tool, you can send another tweet to any other person whom you follow with a message that is 140 characters.

  4. Use the @ sign- Use the @ sign and the person's twitter name as the first characters of your tweet to see replies to your own tweets.

  5. Search For Your Friends- Search.Twitter.com works well for finding anyone you think may be on Twitter.

  6. Categorize Your Tweets for Added Visibility- When tweeting about popular topics, put the "#" sign in front of the tweet.

  7. Share Photos- You can share photos using TwitPic and posting them as a twitter feed.

  8. Tweet From Your Phone- While this is a valid option it is best done for those using Twitter a great deal. Otherwise it's best just to use your phone's texting option.

  9. Pick a Good Desktop Client- With desktop clients such as TweetDeck, Twhirl and TwitterFox, you can receive tweets in a much more manageable fashion, especially if you follow a lot of people and respond often.

  10. Download a Mobile Client- If you have a BlackBerry, iPhone or another smartphone with Wi-Fi or 3G access, a mobile client might be a better option than using text messages. Mobile Twitter clients worth checking out include Twitterific, TwitterBerry and PocketTweets and Twidroid.
