Right on! Drew,
I am amazed by how many of the questions raised in these forums and anywhere REALTORS gather have to do with which tools (hardware and software) are the BEST! Of course some tools are inherently better than others. Some software programs tend to lead in the right direction or are more forgiving when you make a mistake. Some computers have fewer crashes or operate more intuitively. BUT, none of them will produce a single lead if the operator doesn't know how to use the tools they have in their toolbox.
Of all the gems of insight contained in the e-PRO course, there is one we should all remember clearly: The best computer, printer, contact management program, cell phone, etc. is the one you will use! Of course it is a good idea to pick the brain of more experienced colleagues regarding their experience with hardware or software so long as you don't assume that someone else's tools will work as well for you as they do for them.
I can use the same canvas, the same brushes, and the same oils or water colors as the creator of a masterpiece but one thing is absolutely certain: I can't paint a masterpiece.
For the few who have never heard it and for most of us who need a reminder now and then, Myra Brooks Welch's poem says it far better than can I,
Twas battered and scarred, and the auctioneer
thought it scarcely worth his while to waste much time on the old violin,
but held it up with a smile; "What am I bidden, good folks," he cried,
"Who'll start the bidding for me?" "A dollar, a dollar"; then two!" "Only
two? Two dollars, and who'll make it three? Three dollars, once; three
dollars twice; going for three.." But no, from the room, far back, a
gray-haired man came forward and picked up the bow; Then, wiping the dust
from the old violin, and tightening the loose strings, he played a melody
pure and sweet as caroling angel sings.
The music ceased, and the auctioneer, with a voice that was quiet and low,
said; "What am I bid for the old violin?" And he held it up with the bow.
A thousand dollars, and who'll make it two? Two thousand! And who'll make
it three? Three thousand, once, three thousand, twice, and going and
gone," said he. The people cheered, but some of them cried, "We do not
quite understand what changed its worth." Swift came the reply: "The touch
of a master's hand."

With all the exclusive tools and options some of the website providers offer, syndication, blogs, etc...the questions that no one seems to ever answer is how many leads does the site get vs. unique visitors, how many leads convert to sales and how much income does it generate?
1) Are you getting 5%+ conversion of unique visitors to leads?
2) Are you converting 1%, 2% of the leads?
3) Does the site generate $20K, $50K, $100K, or ? in commissions?
It really great to hear how much support some of these website companies have, but unless someone supplies real data, the rest is just fluff. Most website companies are in the business to sell websites and their services, not worry about if you get placement on the SE's.
