RENA,

The CDRS is a small operation which claims 300 members. They are not affiliated in any with the CDPE. As a matter of fact, to me, they could not be more of polar opposites.

Like I said that other designation claims 300 members as opposed to over 10,000 CDPE's. They also don't offer as much information, education, and support as the CDPE. It's safe to say their course will have half the information you can get at the CDPE course.

They do have monthly fees to receive other materials or information. The same kind of things you get FREE from the CDPE. They even have monthly conference calls with other CDPE's and we go over the latest trends, talk about lender tactics, we give our success stories and we pool together to try and help other facing unique situations.

I wanted to learn more from that other designation but they website did not help me. They some testimonials but they don't display their full names so I couldn't track them down to get a first hand account of their experience. Contrast that to the CDPE Testimonials page(s) and you can see that the quality is evident.

Am I biased? You bet, I was one of the original CDPE's and you can see the passion that I still have for this. Not only me, most other CDPE's are just as passionate--that is something no course can claim. By the way, if you find a passionate member of the other designation, please let me know. It would be great to compare notes.

Go ahead Rena, Become a CDPE Today

I don't believe CPDE has NAR's blessing but the 2 day class was well worth it. I have had a lot of loss mitigation training from Titanium Solutions and Help-U-Sell but there is always more to learn. CPDE crammed a lot into 2 days - it could easily have been 3. But the disc with forms etc alone was worth it. I just did it 2 weeks ago and marketing the hell out of it.

The bottom line is they seem very ethical and aimed at helping people who need it most and making the transaction less strenuous for everyone.

CDPE is an extremely worthwhile course. It is not a NAR designation.

Has anyone heard of CDRS - certified default resolution specialist? Is this a duplicate of the CDPE course, but without the NAR designation?

Hi Rena (and community),

It's obvious that you've been doing your research, or have been told about the CDRS Program. In today's education and training environment, you should be doing your homework, because there are a lot of folks out there trying to teach about this hot topic that don't have any experience in actually doing Short Sales, and even building a business in this unique niche. The CDRS Certification Program is very quickly moving through the ranks and proving itself to industry leaders as an extremely comprehensive, diverse, technical, nuts-an-bolts curriculum that makes real estate agents experience a special paradigm shift in how they operate in their business and how they process their Short Sale transactions. This, in of itself, especially after one has taken the course, truly gives people clarity as to the unique differences of this training program, as compared to other programs. Furthermore, it's the first pre-foreclosure certification program that recognizes real estate professionals, both for their individual level of experience and education. We can go on and on about this program, including the placement of each CDRS Member on the CDRS Network, but we recommend visiting www.CDRSCertified.com for more information. NAR doesn't have a Short Sale, or pre-foreclosure designation, yet.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call America's Home Rescue at 888.699.9222.

Thanks and have a great day!

Editor's Note
What is the financial strength, the longevity, and the credentials of the "Certifying Entity?"I think this should always be a consideration when looking at the value of the certification. It goes to the heart of "certification." In any program, the education has a value, and the certification has a value. When I was a plebe at the Naval Academy, the Academy was working to get accredited through several academic organizations. There were a number of them and some were recognised by larger entities, some were not. Point being, the certification is only as good as the entity that stands behind it. The education you obtain through any program may or may not have value, separate and apart from the certification.Saul
