Has anyone taken this course? Know anything about it? It was promoted
heavy at the RE/MAX Convention and its coming to my area. I do a good bit
of foreclosure work and just wondering if it is a good course. Its $400.00
bucks, so any information will be appreciated.

My husband and I spent $800.00 each to take this class and we traveled to Orlando, FL to take it. This is one of the absolute MUST classes that I have ever seen. I have taken a lot of designation classes, learning classes and just various educational classes. This is by FAR the most helpful information for what our industry is facing today and I am rocking with the information. We are carrying around 116 listings and closing 6 next week or so. I would say that Alex would guarantee this course for you. He is an excellent instructor and the entire staff is so knowledgeable. I totally believe in the knowledge and it has truly raised the bar for the Realtors in my city. I personally feel that nothing else is a comparison.

I haven't done much on social networking sites, other than joining Facebook
and accepting a few friends invitations. It strikes me that one should be
acutely aware of what is publicly available and private parts of each site.
Also, are users familiar with the rules of the road so to speak that would
refrain them from turning something held for your friends viewing and
consumption into a posting on a wall.

For now proceeding with caution.

Yes, I agree Rita. And Alex hired me to edit his Field Manual and at-home course. So, I know how complete it is.

Certainly Jim. It's always woth it if you got $400 buck for what you don't know. Why Not? It's only $400 bucks especially if you don't know, right?

Hi Jim,

This was, by far, the very bestcourse I've ever taken. Well worth the cost. I'm so enamored of it that I have even subscribed to the Advanced Coaching program which is even more incredible.

Go for it!

Meir: I really do not feel that this is a strange amount of differing monies to charge for this class. For instance, the class that I took was a 3 day class and included some additional information that the shortened version does not include. Also, I had an opportunity to network with other CDPE's during my trip as well as other Realtors from different parts of the United States. Some of the classes are only two days and some are distance learning and some are just one day crash course and others are available on the RE/MAX RSN. So various avenues creates various costs depending on the method of delivery. At any cost, this is again one of the most useful and common sense classes for today's industry that I have seen.

I fully endorse the positive comments about the CDPE. If all real estate agents that attempt to work the short-sale market would take this course, take the advanced course that is offered after the course, follow the principles with their marketing, we would get about 80% more of these transactions to the closing table. The distressed homeowners need good guidance with their listing agent and the buyer's agent needs to be able to guide their clients as well as to what to expect. The documentation that the CDPE teaches you to use, how to negotiate with the lender and to understand what the lender is looking for and when is critical. Like the others, I cannot recommend the time and money spent enough. This course is right up there with CRS, e-PRO, Eco-broker, etc. They are all great courses.
We should not be stepping beyond our knowledge and experience and "practicing" with homeowners to learn the short sale process. Get the education and then go out and help the public. This is so absolutely crucial to a successful outcome and someone facing foreclosure disserves the competence of a well-trained Realtor.

Here are some questions. Pretty basic.
What does one do to earn this designation? Especially if there are 1,2,3 days classes and online classes. Is there any form of testing?
Is there any experience requirement before getting the designation?
You will have to forgive me if I at all sound skeptical, but there are too many courses out there that offer "expert" designations automatically when one takes the course. You can literally sleep through the course and as long as you have paid you get the letters to put behind your name.
This is not to knock this training at all. Everyone seems to love it. But knowledge by itself does not make an expert. Experience is an equal portion of the equation (IMHO).
