Mary lou Wall Licensed Real Estate Broker,  Wethersfield,  CT

My advise to you is if you are here on this post, which means you are interested in the internet. Know yourself is my advise. Perhaps you are already successful but it seems to me that this is a runaway train i.e. the internet and we are all on it whether we like it or not. I know plenty of savvy people but it is time to expand our knowledge base - the internet. Good Luck in whatever decision you need to decide on.

Best Regards,

Hi everyone

We were surprised to receive the following request for advice from a current e-PRO student:

<<I realize now that taking the e-pro course may not be worthwhile, as my broker does not believe in 'doing business over the internet'. Our website is not interactive, and I am not sure how I can implement your strategies/teachings @ my office. Please advise.
>>

While we intend to discuss the situation with the student, we are interested in your feedback on:

1. How you would handle the situation if it was your broker who does not believe in 'doing business over the internet'

2. How you would advise this real estate salesperson

I would attempt to understand why my broker might come to this (erroneous) conclusion by asking questions like why she feels this way, what could have lead her to this belief, and that she might wish to consider the very real benefits to the brokerage of a full commitment to doing business over the internet. Put the right way, I believe my broker would see the value in this Realtor and the potential benefit to the brokerage. The agent would then position herself as the internet whiz of the office. She could then teach others and recommend the e-pro course to all agents, and the broker!.. a true "win-win situation".

I would advise this real estate agent to enthusiastically tell the broker about the benefits she has already derived from the epro course and that she would like the opportunity to implement these strategies both in the office website and her own website. I do not believe the broker would say no to such an opportunity. However, if he met with extreme resistance to change, he should consider a timely move to a brokerage with a culture compatible with his.
