Over the past several years, I have spent a few thousand dollars on pay per click services with google and yahoo and as a result received visitors to my various websites. Some of those visitors turned into quality leads and buyers of real estate. However, once I began blogging via the free resources of Realtown.com and finished the e-Pro course offered by Internet Crusade and NAR, I dropped paying anything to these past ppc services. The e-Pro course, my point2 website, and my blog have revolutionized my real estate business. Even in these tough real estate time, I'm busy.

I have over 330 different entries/articles on my blog: http://FinestNYRealEstate.com and close to 40 videos there too. I am involved with a private firm which for a small monthly cost provides me with high quality, informative real estate-related articles that I can cut and paste on my different blogs/websites. These entries enhance the ones that I write myself.

When I regularly check google.com, yahoo.com, and msn.com, using various area related and topical keywords, I'm repeatedly show up at least once if not multiple times as a search result (free) on page 1. I directly attribute those results to the multiple videos and entries on my blog. If you regularly stay on page 1, potential buyers will find you and free leads will come. I love free. I have in the past donated precious funds for ideas and services that in reflection really belonged in the toilet.

I just want to say that we should not consider a lead "FREE" if we spend
hours blogging, optimizing, updating, etc., as time is money. Our accounting
includes these costs in our marketing effort, as well they should. The cost
may be less, more, or equal to what one might pay an outside service if one
accounts for ones time as a hourly expense.

Otherwise, I agree, as do several of the SEO 'experts' out there... SEO is
NOT rocket science. Persistence, effort, and as much knowledge as possible
is what it is about...

I agree that organic results are much better, and more cost effective, at
least for us in our market places.

Have a great day!

Best regards,

Hi Joe,

It seems we are not alone. My website is generating next to nothing, while I receive between 5 -10 calls per week off of REALTOR.com. That is why I enrolled in ePro, why I am firing my website manager, and why I will be using a Top Producer website in the not-too-distant future. Good Luck! ... john

John and Joe,

The problem is that you are expecting a website to do the work for you. You
have to work to drive people to your website and then have a unique offering
that makes them want to give you their contact information in a response
form. Then you have to keep in contact with them until they buy! If you do
what everyone else does, you'll get the same results. I was getting a few
leads, but nothing was happening. Then I started doing things differently
and started getting 30 to 60 leads per month. And the leads are starting to
turn into buyers already. I showed homes to two different couples back to
back Saturday afternoon. Real Estate is getting fun again. If you are
