John Cleek Licensed Real Estate Agent,  Louisburg,  KS

I was told by people at Comcast, Yahoo and several other places that it's best to just DELETE spam. Google's spam filter is the best out there, so most of your spam will most likely be filtered out. The few that get through - just DELETE them - don't mark them as SPAM or you could actually be hurting yourself and not even know it.

SPAM sucks... it really does.

I don't unsubscribe from spam mail. Ever. I hit the gmail spam button so that the next time it goes where it belongs. I believe google uses these in the aggragate to determine automatically which to send directly to spam. Spam email comes from thousands of sources. It is not realistic to 'unsubscribe' from all the mail you never should have been sent in the first place.

I agree that it is never advisable to use the unsubscribe button. When I am in a hurry, which is often :-)) I also use the delete key but there is an even better alternative (at least for mac users). I use the message pull-down menu and click "bounce". The message is returned to sender undelivered. It disappears from my computer and hopefully is deleted from the senders database. there is also a keyboard shortcut (shift-command-B) which works the same way.

It has been interesting to watch this discussion since it began. If you read down through the entries you will see that there is a variety of views on the e-flyer topic. When you look at the variety of views, and read between the lines, you can see that all of us real estate sales people have something different to offer. This difference is one of the reasons Realtors/real estate sales people have been able to stay on top of the sales game for many years. The consumer will always be the judge of what works and what does not. It is my belief, and this discussion is my proof, that there will be a real estate sales person to fit the need of any and all consumers now and for years to come.

Although there is a need for every marketing style in the field of real estate sales I do want to point out that the numbers are becoming higher every day indicating that the consumers are asking for, demanding and using technology in the world of real estate. As with the e-pro class I completed, to the significant investment in time and money that I have made in technology, I believe we should be looking towards the future and technology, such things as the E-Flyer.

Just as when the first TV was built and sold - - advertising followed - - there were some that tuned them off and there were some that kept them turned on - - waiting for a Color TV.

I'll keep mine on.

Are you mailing e-flyers out to other agents or also to consumers? How do you decide who to mail to and where do you get their email addresses?

I get quite a few of these e-flyers myself and while I think the ones that come from outside my area are essentially Spam, I see there is always an unsubscribe link from the e-flyer company and I imagine that they honor it. I wouldn't class them with the regular spammers.

I have no objection to getting e-flyers from agents who are operating within my geographic area.

When used, my primary target would be within the state. We have had considerable action between real estate sales people across the state. In the past couple of years I have received offers written from agents across the state. This indicates to me that there are buyers across the state seriously looking. E-Flyers are an economical means to reach across the state with some property specific advertising.
