What lies ahead for the future of the MLS as we know it?

Recently, RealTown released the MLS of the Future Vision Article authored by our own Saul Klein. The article release has created an incredible buzz in the Real; Estate industry. Over the past few weeks we released a five-part series to allow you to read the specific sections of the article and make online comments.

"Open and frank discussion is essential to creating the tools and organizations that will position REALTORS® to provide services to meet the expectations of future buyers and sellers. This exclusive Paper is a vision statement, and not a roadmap. MLS in the broad, generic sense needs to be redefined in the age of information proliferation and online participatory environments. MLS is more than an offer of compensation and cooperation, but how much more? That decision is up to you."

Read Part 2 of the article and share your views with the community.

Rich says this about the MLS System:

"MLS is more than an offer of compensation and cooperation, but how much more? That decision is up to you."

What more would we want the MLS to be other than the provider of Compensation to Cooperating Agents and Listing information?  If you'll notice, the WWW doesn't provide compensation or cooperation between the agents.  You claim the real world is shopping the Internet.  Will I hate to tell you this Rich but all the evidence clearly indicates Internet presents is not producing the desired results, unless you are in the market for Foreclosures or Short Sales and discount agents?  Don't you think it's time we measure the results?????  What has Integration between the MLS and WWW done for Real Estate?  We have plenty of (((exposure))), we have plenty of "tire kickers" who are inundated with ((((information)))).  But if that's all it took to make a sale why isn't real estate selling?  The problem I find with Internet Marketing through FREE websites provided by various approved vendors is you don't know what's going on in the background.  This is a good reason to learn how to build your own web presents through your own sources of web design.  Building the website is the simple part driving people to it is a horse of a different color.  So why are Lead Generators getting such a bad rap on Real Town?  Could it be that Internet Lead Generators wouldn't even exist if it were not for IDX?
