Who knows the solution for the following office problem?
We have 24 computers connected to a server and also to a couple printers.

Is there a way to set up the printer, sothat the printed pages indicate from whom the prints are? Can we have at the bottom a liner indicating from what computer it was send or from what person it comes?

Or is there a software that might help us?

Ronny,
First American Title's system automatically prints a separator page with the person's name on it as the first printed page of a document. Unfortunately, I do not know how they programmed the system for this to happen. If your office has a tech support person or consultant I would think they would know how to do it or can find out.

Actually, this is pretty easy. On each computer, go to the printer in question. Then right click, and properties. From there, click on the "Advanced Tab" then click on "Separator Page". You'll have to generate some kind of page to send to the printer, but that can be just a simple pdf file.

Do this for each of the computers.

One simple way to do that is to just click the "File" link at the top left of your browser, go to "Page Setup" , click the "Margins/Heater Footer" tab and put whatever you want the top or bottom of each page to say.

You'll need to click the "Custom" choice at the bottom of the drop down menu to put your name in there.

I use as browser IE-7 and when I click File - Page Setup I do not get the "Margins/Header Footer" tab, but just a page setup with a paper size and choice and a Header and a footer. In the footer is filled in "&u&b&d" and in the header is filled in "&w&bPage &p of &P" What does this text means and do I have to delete this and fill in my own text?

I tried to delete the footer text and fill in my own text and run a test print with negative result. At the bottom is no "custom" choice. But at the top where it says size I have the choice of letter and the drop down has the option also "Custom", but where do I put my name?
Please advise.

Keep in mind that if you change the header or footer in IE7, it only applies to IE7, not any other applications.

Steven:

In our situation we have 24 computers attached to one server and two printers and a scanner. Each computer has his own code name.
Can the server be setup to read each computer to create a footer that belongs to that particular computer?
Especially since some Realtors use AOL and Yahoo.

So the separator page idea, if it works, you could create a separator page for each computer. Use the "raw" print to file method to create the page. Then put it in the printer driver, as I posted earlier.

Otherwise your best bet is to have the server do it according to the user that's logged in. I'm not a MS Server person, but there is probably someone out there that is…
