Skype phone service...Africa.

On a recent 2 week short term mission trip to Burkina Faso, Africa I had my first exposure to Skype. One member of the team had Skype access with his laptop and we were all able to call our families at home for pennies a minute and the quality was excellent and almost no annoying delays during conversations. I will definitely be checking into how the service works stateside.

Please Does anyone use skype for a telephone service provider ? What have you found advantages and disadvantages ? Having family in a foreign country it is not always practical to call from a cell phone particularly Africa.

I use Skype to talk to my daughter who's going to school in the Dominican Republic. I use my computer with a mike and a camera, so I can see and talk to her for freeeeee. Works great. I do not use their phone service.
