I previously had a Blackberry and switched over to a Treo. For me there is
no question, the Treo is for me! I am not the most tech savvy person and I
found the Blackberry hard to work with.
Hi, Steve!
I, too, have been wondering which PDA is the best. I want to be able to
access emails at any time but I am not particularly interested in using this
device as a key. This means that either the Blackberry or the Treo is an
option. After asking about a dozen agents with Treos how they liked the
PDA, here is what I learned: 2 out 12 had something positive to say!
Actually, most of these agents liked the Treo, but were quick to say it has
problems. Many of these guys were on their second or third Treo in a year
and one agent has had four in six months. One gentleman in my office said
his main problem is that it will not update the key function. This leaves
him standing at the door of a home with no way to get in. Makes me think!
Could this be an area problem?
I also talked to two Verizon reps and asked them to compare Blackberry and
Treo. Both said Blackberry, hands down, unless you need the key option. I
am purchasing the Blackberry this week and I will let you know how my
progress goes!

I am a Verizon customer, and just bought their VX6800. It's a pocket PC (vs. Palm Pilot), and I'm very happy with it. I have my training this Thursday for use with the new eKey, but in San Diego, you won't have that issue with the Sentrilock (I wish we had those - they fit in your wallet just like a credit card). It's close to being an iPhone, but is business-focused: MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook), it syncs with your computer, has Internet Explorer, a keyboard or touch screen and three handwriting recognition programs.
I would also like to know what pda will work well with a mac. I currently use a mac "mini" which runs Windows XP Pro as well as OX 10 (mac). I currently use my blackberry curve on the pc side, but have 3 other Macs, including my favorite laptop and would love to sync to it.

… I have a treo 700w right now, but sometimes get frustrated on having to reboot every so often...
I purchased the first Treo that came out and then the next one. I loved having an all in one device but was also frustrated having to reboot often. It’s never a good thing to be at the door, with your client standing there, while you try to get you device to work so you can open the door.
I have just recently purchased the Blackberry Curve. My decision for that device was made because there were 2 things that were really important to me 1) I needed a good quality phone (the Treo isn’t) and 2) I needed a good email device. I have found the quality of the Blackberry to be the best for me in those areas. I carry the regular display key as my lockbox key. It isn’t as cool as the Treo but it sure is dependable!

Our Association is THIS WEEK changing from Display Key to Active Key (or eKey), so we have no choice. That is why I have this dilemma in the first place. So I have traded my Display Key in for an Active Key, won't buy a TREO or anything else until I make more sales.
Happy Sale-ing.

Hi All, I am just starting my search for a PDA/phone that will interface with the local MLS service, process incoming and outgoing email, help organize business activities, etc. I recently purchased an Apple iMac desktop & MacBook laptop. Both are capable of running the Apple operating system and Windows. I have used a Mac & a Windows PC but prefer the Mac, partially because of a virus, trojan horse problem with the PC. I had been thinking of buying an Apple iPhone but now want to expand the uses of a hand held device. The Blackberry and Treo are consistently mentioned as the best solutions. Are either of those units Mac compatible? If not, is there a good solution to integrate with the Mac? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hi,
I just changed to a Treo 755. It is great. I had a blackberry in the past and gave it up because it was just too hard to work with. This is simple and it works great with the supra Iboxes. No more worrying about whether my key is updated.I know some of the earlier models had issues but wouldn’t go back to the Blackberry…

I got rid of my 700W as it had the same problems you mentioned. I bought the verizon 6800 made by HTC. It is the best pda I have ever owned. No freezing up, it wirelessly connects to supra automatically each morning for use in lock boxes, has a 2 mg camera, fast connect to internet and sends and receives email like a charm. I am happy to recommend this product and have written about it twice in replying to the e-Pro talk forum. Good luck in your decision making.

Converting from a Palm v to a Treo 700p was done with ease.
My palm treo is updated nightly and I'm ready to open keyboxes each day without doing anything. I can e-mail, text message, consult my calendar, pull up listings and the phone has become my life. Thru Coldwell Banker I receive a discount with Sprint and carry insurance on the phone. Friday I used it. My treo suddenly did not bring up a keyboard to dial out phone numbers. A trip to the local Sprint Nextel store, a traded Treo and updating from my
original one had me re-established in 4 hours. (It still received incoming calls). My only disadvantage was the Board office wasn't open on the weekend to re-instate my e-key capabilities. The Treo 755 has more memory, but there is so much on the 700p that there seems no reason to trade up.
