 Cell Phone - DNC List

I received this from one of my lenders, and I thought it bore passing along.  I plan to send it out to everyone in my database as well.  It's bad enough to be solited....but with cell phones, we have to PAY for it as well????

REMINDER
In about 10 days, all cell phone
numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you
will start to receive sale calls.

YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS

To prevent this, call the following number
from your cell phone: 888-382-1222

Or go to www.donotcall.gov.  It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time.. It blocks your number for five (5) years. You must call from the cell phone number you want to block.

Actually an URBAN LEGEND.

My suggestion is to list all your phone numbers on the Do-Not-Call List. With this - if some SOB from XYZ Lead Service continues to call you you can ask if he checked the Do-Not-Call List before calling you. This will usually put a stop to their unsolicited call. If not - file a complaint - it's relatively easy.

So sorry to have bothered everyone with this.  I generally check Snopes about such things before emailing them out to the world, but it came to me from one of my lenders.  I tried to find my RT message to delete it before it got sent out, but I couldn't find it to do so.  Yes, Urban Legend....shoulda known better....thank goodness I discovered it before also sending it to even MORE people!!!!

I had taken a class about the DNC and in that they said that you cannot put business phone numbers on the DNC, and any phones that Realtors use for business and advertise on their business cards, on websites and in mailings cannot be on the DNC.

Here is what the FTC says about business lines.

"Can I register my business phone number or a fax number? The National Do Not Call Registry is only for personal phone numbers. Business-to-business calls and faxes are not covered by the National Do Not Call Registry."

As Realtors we are a business, so we technically cannot register any phones that we advertise for our business on websites, business cards, and in mailings.
