Every Cell phone carrier has a different domain name for text messaging, so you would need to know who the carrier is of the person you want to SMS (text message) through outlook.  for example, a verizon sms address for outlook would be 8057771234@vtext.com


If you know the carrier, then you can look up the domain name for that person on this list.

If you do not know the carrier, there are services called SMS Gateways that will sent the message for you - and they are free :-)

Text messages from Outlook?

Hello,
I have not tried this but I have researched how to do it. Outlook
offers a free download for your first 10 text messages. After the first
10 text messages the cost per text message in the US is $0.17 per pc.
The software also allows the user to send messages via fax as well as
send a recorded message all through your Outlook. See link below for
