Palm Treo 755p vs Palm Centro

I've got a new topic that I'm interested in your thoughts on. I'm on the cusp of purchasing a Palm based PDA, but am stuck on the two leading choices: the 755p or the new Centro. On the surface, they appear technically identical. The Centro is smaller, but I'm wondering if it has limitations in our industry compared to the Treo.

Does anyone have any experience with either device? I'd like to know!

I have used the Palm Treo 650 with Sprint Service for the last two years and never had any problems. This past year I also upgrading the software to include the Supra E-Key Realtor services. My software is the Palm and all I can say is my life became much simplier by using this device. Last week I just updated my Treo 650 to the new Palm Centro and love the new smaller footprint of the phone. It is a small price to pay in learning a new tool set by using the Palm Treo to get all of the advantages that this system offers - outlook email, calendar, contacts, supra & e-key, etc.

I am in the same position as you, torn between these two phones, but I am leaning heavily towards the treo 755p. I went to the sprint store to look at the phones, and although I like the (slightly) smaller size of the centro, the keyboard is much harder to press. You really do need nails to use it. If you type at all on it, it will slow you down.

I can give you the facts on the Centro and 755p.  Most features are the same where they are different I will list. Memory Centro 64MB 755p 128MB, not a problem with SD cards. Camera Centro does not have a automatic light balance 755 does, both 1.3 megapixels.  Battery Centro 3.5 hours talk 755p 4.2 hours talk.  Size and weight difference

Centro 4.22L x 2.11W x .73D weight 4.2 oz

755p 4.4L x 2.3W x .84D weight 5.64 oz

All the other spec's are the same, so now it boils down to price, I have a deal with a company for agents Centro free 755p $149 which is a great price for a 755p.  Where you can really save money is on the unlimited data and email plan, 15 BUCKS a month.

I teach Smartphones and love them both BUT if you twist my arm 755p is the best device on the market today.  Check out my website www.DickBetts.com for more information.

Since I initially asked this question, I've purchased the 755p, and am quite happy with it. The size, while slightly larger than the Centro, feels good in my hands, and the keyboard is great. I think the Centro keyboard would have been to tight for my big fingers! The longer battery life of the 755p is also a plus, because it is barely adequate as is. I've learned to not leave home without the car charger or the A/C charger, just in case! Some days its fine, but on days I get lots of calls or e-mails, or when I use my bluetooth a lot, the battery doesn't last long. On light days, its fine. Hope this helps. I have had the Treo for years, love it dearly.  When it died recently I was torn about which way to go.  My son convinced me to try the Samsung Blackjack II.  I love it.  The only thing I would change is the screen color and I can, just haven't figured out which one I like best.  No stylus to lose.  Works with Outlook, syncs to my computers (3)  built in GPS, I can record voice notes on it instead of having to type them him.  Bluetooth compatible, speech recognition for phone AND GPS!!  Internet & e-mail & camera.  I think this will be a keeper.

ps: The carrying cases are expensive.  Go to Wal-Mart camera dept.  $1.95 for a small case.  In the battery pocket I put my business cards.  It hooks on a belt or purse strap.
