I'm interested in hearing about other REALTOR's experiences with the tablet PC's.  Is it worth the investment for someone new to the business if they already have a laptop and desktop?

Thanks,

If your laptop is working well don’t upgrade. We have been in the business 5 years and have just replaced 2 laptops with 2 regular laptops. The premium for the Tablets is just too high in my opinion. Yes you can make a very nice presentation with the Seller/Buyer looking at the laptop while you are seeing their reactions. But, in our experience we use a hard copy presentation that we leave with the prospect and we use the laptop with a data card to look at the MLS we need to drive that and we do that next to the customer and in this case we don’t need a tablet.

I've had a tablet PC since March 2006 and love it. I like the additional features, speed, flexability and freedom it gives me. Clients are VERY impressed when they sign a contract on the computer screen and I email a copy to them instantly. The best part is that I only spent 1/3 the amount for this laptop, that I spent for my first laptop. On the other hand, I now spend $3.00/gal of gas instead of .60/gal I spent when I first came into real estate.

I have a Tablet PC and it is the BEST thing that I have ever invested in in
my business. Yes, it is more expensive but I can capture signatures for
contracts on my screen and immediately send via fax or email to the listing
agent, my office, attorney, lender and to my buyer. I love it.

Look back at the tablet posts in the archive. I love my tablet, would not
buy anything else.

You don't need a tablet to do presentations.  You need a tablet to get offers signed and deals done.  Think about it.  FedEx, UPS use them, you sign away at retail stores, it's about the client, make it easy for people to do business with you and...they will.

I have had HP and they seem to die as soon as the warranty is out. I have had a Toshbia laptop for five years and is still running strong. I just ordered a new one just to update everything and Best Buy had it on sale for 599.00. I will continue to purchase Toshbia. I do have a Toshbia netbook as well and I am very happy with that also. My husband has a Mac, but I just have not tried to learn the Mac, everyone say's they are great when you learn them.
