If one has several places where they blog, is it okay to post the same article to each blog?

Kind regards,

Margaret

Hi Margaret,

It's okay to post the same article to multiple blogs. However it is recommended by Google that you reference where the article was originally posted.  Also keep in mind that Google will only return one of the blogs in its search engine result pages so my advice would be to post the article first to the blog that you want to have the search engines drive traffic to. Make sure Google has the page indexed and then post to your other blogs and add a link with text that says something like "Orginally Posted at [Your Blog Name]"

*To test whether Google has the article indexed just enter the full url of the article into the Google search form. If the page shows up it has been indexed.

This is OK, but the better way to post to multipe blogs is to modify the content of each post so that the search engines see it as unique content. Also, for SEO purposes, your blog post should be a shortened version of a full article on your own website. Post your full article first on your website, then go ahead and post an edited version on a blog with a link back to your website. This is a great way to build both content and links to your site.

Like Steve was saying, it is best to modify the content. Search engines (especially Google) really do not care for duplicate content.

This site has some great info for Realtors when it comes to blogging and web 2.0 tools. I am sure you will find many answers to questions that you have or are faced with in the future.

You might consider placing your content into a feedburner account, as it allows you to place a RSS feed on your other blogs. For example, I have a new homes blog that is fed my content from my Realtown blog in the side column.
