Website design, meta tags, keywords - handling

We have a main real estate web site. www.SharonOakes.com and Selling
Homes Springfield directs people to it as well as remax.com. I want to get
more traffic to it when people are searching for homes in surrounding
communities so I set up web pages with local town names. These web sites
are directed to www.SharonOakes.com. Should I put meta tags and keywords at
each of the web sites or will that cause confusion. A technical person at
google indicated it can cause problems with searches because too many sites
have the same keywords which are directing to one web site.

Hi Cal,

When you say "directed" do you  mean the website links  to  your main website  or  is there an actual redirect meaning someone visiting the url www.localtownname.com will end up at your website.  If its the latter the search engine benifit is negigible. If its the former the benefit will still be minor.  You will see better results by focusing on one website and adding content with the appropriate seo keywords, especially if you have limited resources.

Looking at your website sharonoakes.com it is apparent that the html title tags could be adjusted for better search engine results. (Title tags are the tags that display the text at the very top of the browser). On your website each page has identical title tags "Selling Homes Springfield".  The title tag should be different for each page and should reflect the seo keywords that are displayed on that page. For example,  on your "Buy a home page" the title tag should be something like "Buy a home in springfield".  Additionally "Springfield" is such a common city name that you should consider something more specific like "Buy a home in springfield illinois" When choosing keyword make sure they are in the title tags as well as in the content of the web page.

When working on your site keep in mind that there is not a quick fix to search engine traffic. Unique and seo keyword rich content that is updated frequently is the best method for developing quality web traffic.

Thank you Brian. I never knew that the title tags should be different on each pg. I will work on that on my web site: JodyHoodRealEstate.com. Would you take a look at it for me. I think I have a lot of content but it doesn't make the phone ring.
