Hey Mark,

Didn't realize I had done that. Funny that I got it right in one place and not the other. Thanks. I'm sorta going on some information that I read about a year ago that WP didn't run javascript but that they were considering it. If I remember correctly, they had a concern about vulnerabilities in allowing javascripts. Either I remember wrong or they changed gears. Either way it's good to know that you can do that now. I still consider WP and TypePad the two best choices in blogging and I really don't know that I would consider one preferable to the other.

Thanks also for the info on java vs. javascript; not that I really understood the explanation but I don't really need to. I just need to be more concise and your explanation sure helped me with that.

The key thing to understand about javascript is that it is run by the browser. Internet Explorer, Safari, Chrome, FireFox all have javascript engines. Web visitors can turn off javascript so that it will not run. This means that a javascript widget like the calculator you are using might not display on a visitor's web browser. Not many people turn off javascript but it is possible and something website owners should be aware of.

Buddy,

When I get unexpected results like you did with your mortgage calculator I immediately check the source code as it's generally hastens the "Doh!" moment and saves a lot of cursing and throwing. ;-)

Dang Mark,

I'm not into any of the professional sports. My business is way off. And now you want to take away cursing and throwing!? It's all I have left.

Absolutely - I am telling all my clients to create their website using Wordpress - BUT, you want Wordpress.org as your blog, not .com.

.org is much more powerful

I will have to go back and look at some of my older blogs but I think I am running java on them and if there is an issue, there is always a plug-in to fix it!
