Apr. 26, 2008 - Treasure Hunt in Las Vegas

source http://geofferykilts.com
Las Vegas is all a twitter over a new book out called Vegas Die. Seems a retired mobster is found murdered in the mayor's car and he becomes the prime suspect in this murder mystery.
But the really mystery that has Las Vegans searching high and low is the fact that a silver dagger worth a cool $25,000 dollars has been hidden some where in Las Vegas. The author said it is not in anyone's private residence, private front yard or backyard.
All of the clues are within the pages of the book. Only the author knows where the silver dagger is, even his wife does not know where it is.
The search for the silver dagger will go on for three years and the author has a sequel in the works. If no one has found it in two years the author said he may post some more clues.
Great fun for all even I think I might just buy a book and join in. I've always been a pretty good PI

Apr. 23, 2008 - McCarran International Airport
.jpg)
McCarran International Airport
60 years McCarran International Airport has been serving Las Vegas. Named after Pat McCarran a long time politican , you can read about Pat McCarran here McCarran started with 4 airlines and twelve flights a day Bonanza, TWA, Western, and United. Of those airlines only United remains.
The nation’s sixth-busiest airport has certainly come a long way since 1948, the year Clark County purchased the property east of Las Vegas Boulevard that local aviation pioneer George Crockett had used for his smaller Alamo Airport. McCarran Field was dedicated on Dec. 19, 1948, and aviation in Southern Nevada has grown steadily ever since.
There will be different celebrations through out the year and I will take pictures and let you know what is going on.

Apr. 4, 2008 - Las Vegas Made the Top Towns For Empty Nester
Empty Nester's
The Curry's of Atlanta wasted no time selling their family home as soon as their youngest son graduated high school. In Ms. Curry's words the ink was not even dry on the diploma before they sold the home and moved. Seems more and more people are moving as soon as they become empty nester's.
Las Vegas is on the top ten list of where these empty nester's are moving too. According to a Forbes magazine article between the years of 1990-2005 the empty nest population in Las Vegas has grown 156%. for the age population of 55-64 years of age. To read more on this Forbes Magazine Article click here
I did a little more investigation since these statistics only went to 2005 as of March 2008 I found this: Which takes us to July of 2007.
According to a new U.S. Census Bureau report. The growth measure was based on the actual number of people moving into metro areas, not on percentage terms - by that count, Las Vegas did not crack the top ten. The report says that the Las Vegas Metro’s population increased by 59,165 people from July 2006 to July 2007.
More about Las Vegas that may contribute to people moving to Las Vegas,
- No local or state income tax
- No business income tax
- No estate tax
- 95% of companies hire locally
- Between 200,000-250,000 miles of fiber optic cable in the ground
- Cheapest operating cost in the US for a corporate headquarters
- 96,000 people (net) moved here in 2006
- Median family income up 66% from 1996-2006
- Value of a home up 168% in ten years

Apr. 1, 2008 - Elvis and his return to the Las Vegas Strip
The King will he return?
Well the Las Vegas Strip is full of fantasy and fun. The strip has top notch entertainment and every imaginable kind of food. But can they make THE KING return to Las Vegas? Well according to Las Review Journal the King is going to return to the strip in a big way. New York based FX Real Estate is planning to build an Elvis themed resort on 18 acres. With their own wedding chapels, boutiques, shows, luxury hotel with 2,269 rooms and a 93,000 sq ft. casino. Should be an interesting project and I will update as I find out more.
