Oct. 18, 2008 - The Star Trek Experience

This is what was announced in the middle of the summer.  I was very sad that the Star Trek Experience was going to shut down.

After 11 years the Hilton has announce the end of the Star Trek Experience.  It was announced last week officially, but there has been rumors  for quite  sometime.
I am a Star Trek Fan.  I have lived here 9 years and still have not made it down to the experience.  Now I will have until  Sept. 1  to do it or never see it.  How sad.  I was very excited because I will be at a convention on Sept 19.  I am staying at the Hilton even though I live here, as there are a bunch of my fellow agents coming in for the convention.  Well I thought I would finally have the time to see it and it will be gone.
The official Star Trek Convention is Aug. 6-10th so this will be the final year.
So if you are a big Trekkie now would be the time to come to Las Vegas.

That was then and this is now.  Headlines over the weekend say!

                                                             Boldly Going Downtown
Star Trek Attraction may be headed
                                                            to Neonopolis Mayor Hints

Mayor Goodman let the news slip and the developer for the struggling downtown Neonopolis was surprised when reporters asked him.  He did say, " they were close to a deal but he was not prepared for the news leak."  There are still a lot of negotiations to be done including with CBS who ownes the costumes.
I really hope this goes through as I did not get to see it before it closed at the Hilton.  When I stayed at the Hilton in Sept. I walked around and Quarks bar was still there.  I really was sad that I had not had the experience.

Jun. 25, 2007 - Adventures at the WYNN

Wynn Las Vegas

Steve Wynn is a genius when it comes to designing and running a sucessful casino, in fact he was going to call the Wynn "Le Reve"  which means THE DREAM.  I do not know why he changed his mind and decided to call it after himself.  It is a beautiful hotel and the details he has created are wonderful.  It really is worth going to see.

Now we did not do an overnight stay this time only went to see the water ballet "Le Reve" which I have already told you means THE DREAM.  Breathtaking is all I can say about this performance.  It is a sight to behold and I do not know how they can pull it off day after day.  I wish my dreams were this vivid and long and the detail is fantastic.  Below is an overview of the show.

"Le Reve" (The Dream) offers breathtaking performances in an intimate aqua theater in-the-round. The show features aerial acrobatics, provocative choreography and artistic athleticism. Live music and elaborate special effects immerse the audience into a world of fantasy, adventure and intrigue. Le Reve Theater provides a unique setting which allows the audience to escape reality and let their provoked imagination lead the way. "Le Reve" was created by DRAGONE, whose signature brand of visually stunning and innovative entertainment is at the core of the production.

"Le Reve" has undergone an $8 million renovation. The 1,606 seats provides a more comfortable and luxurious space for the entire audience. Luxe fabrics, plush chairs and a warm blend of cocoa, bronze and deep reds complete the feeling of elegance and style.

"Le Reve" also introduces the VIP Indulgence Package, with complimentary champagne bottle service, chocolate-covered strawberries, lounge seating and video monitors that provide up-close imagery and glimpses of behind-the-scenes action. "Le Reve" will be priced at $99 for the Splash Zone (rows A & B), $119 for Premium Seating (rows C - K), and $159 for the VIP Indulgence Package in the Champagne Circle (row L).

If you are in Las Vegas and want to see a good show, I would recommend this show.

Mar. 18, 2007 - Next Adventure on the Strip

Mom and I went off on a new adventure.  This time we spent the night at the Tropicana.  Now The Trop. has been there as long as I have known that Las Vegas Nevada existed.

We arrived and had to wait quite a bit for the valet to help us.  My mom can not walk very far so we had no choice but to wait.  Then we had a room upstairs and way to the back so it was a long haul.  We had to walk through a long hallway that has all sorts of shops.  Interesting stuff.  One good thing about being upstairs and away from the hustle and bustle, we had a room facing the famous Las Vega Strip.  We could even see the roller coaster at New York New York running.

Now some interesting things playing at the Tropicana.  Bodies  21 human specimens.  These are real bodies that show many things.  Th organs, the circulatory system.  Bodies that are overweight and have had lack of exercise. Healthy bodies, and one with black lung from smoking next to a healthy lung.

Also playing is Titanic a collection of artifacts.

Folies Bergere...real Las Vegas Showgirls!!!!

Xtreme Magic...lots of monstrous cats and magic galore

The Comedy Shop...todays brightest stand up people..tomorrows stars.

All in all our adventure was a good one.  I would visit there again.

Jan. 30, 2007 - Visiting around Town

I have lived in Las Vegas for 7 years.  The growth has been really something to see.  You would have never believed 10 years ago that the growth would be this much.  I have never been much of a gambler.  I do not think you can be a big gambler and live in this town.  Just in the Summerlin area alone there are three major hotel/casinos.  Sun Coast, Rampart, and Red Rock Station.  Not to mention every gas station, drugstore, and grocery store has gambling in it.  So if you have a problem gambling this would not be a good place to be.  That being said my mom and I decided to explore the town a bit and do some overnight stays at some of the casino's.  So from time to time I will let you know where we have stayed and an over all view.

Our first adventure was at Sam's Town.   Sam's is located on the corner of Boulder Highway and Flamingo Ave.  It is built around a hugh atrium that is a huge park like setting.  Inside is Mystic Falls which several times a night has a lazer show with the water.  It is a beautiful sight.  Our room was situated where we could watch th show.  Very nice view.  It was built in 1979 by a father and son team Sam and Bill Boyd.  There are several restaurants Willy and Jose's Cantina and Billy Bob's Steak House and Saloon.  There is also a food court and a cafe.  We chose to eat at the cafe and they had very good roast beef.

Over all our adventure at Sam's Town was very nice and we enjoyed it very much.  I would recommend it very highly to people coming to visit Las Vegas.
