Cambrian Elementary School District had a good year with scores on the Academic Performance Index (API) Report scores. All of the schools in the district are above the target score that the state has set as 800. The scores are as follows:

All of the schools continue to do well. Farnham Elementary had an exceptional year with a jump of 58 points. That is one of the highest gains in the area. One thing that people need to look at is the quality of the test scores when you see a lower score at one school in the district. We have had low scores show up because one student missed school on the test date and did not make up the test. If the state counts that student as a zero, it drops the scores for the entire school for the year. One school, in another district, had four students miss the test. They showed as being below the statewide goal and on probationary status until those students tested. After adding in those scores they easily met their target.

 

Another thing to look at with individual schools it their demographics. If you look at the area around Sartorette Charter you will see a solid residential neighborhood on three sides of the school, with low income apartments on the other side. With the transient population of the apartments, scores in the high 800’s are quite an accomplishment.

 

If you really want to know about a school, the best way to find out is to call the school and visit the campus. Each school is a little different and has its own character. All of the schools have won the distinction of being a California Distinguished School in the last few years and all are above the statewide standards, so you can’t really lose!
