Hi

I found the eco-broker course to be pushing the use of energy raters etc... is this the case with NAR's green designation, or is there more information to help me better prepare my clients?

Congratulations Bob! I am excited for you...sounds like you are ready to roll into the new year with some great things to offer your clients and the world! I took the core course in New Jersey last week and began the on-line residential course today. I learned a great deal and also heard Robert Kennedy Jr. give an amazing talk on environmental issues. I am truly inspired! The thing that excites me the most is what a fabulous way this is to weave my beliefs and way of life with my work.

Yes, I have made the GREEN ecology movement the main marketing effort for my business. Even changed my name to ECO-Coastal Properties from SLO Coastal Properties.

It brings together so many of my own values, veggie diet, natural fiber, recycle everything with my new business blog. Only time will tell what impact it will have with my income, given the current market it's difficult to tell.

Good luck

Does anyone have both the Eco Broker and NAR Green Designation? Happy New Year.

Ya, ME, big smile on my face.

Going Green has put me in contact with some very different people. The different views on private property-Government control.

In my County the so called environmentalist are against building Solar Power Production Plant while saying they support solar power production.

I think building, gulp, a Solar Power Plant is the right thing to do and talking about liking it while trying to stop building Solar Power Plant is worse than doing nothing.

Environmentalist have different thinking. I am learning.

Hmmmm....what are they thinking? I am curious what it is they are objecting to.

Well, I finished all my requirements and am just waiting for my designation. It seems there is a hold up in getting the information from the people or organization I took the core course with. I was hoping to launch my new blog at the 1st of the year, but I will be patient a bit longer.

I did have an interesting experience.... I showed a listing of mine on New Year's Eve day (in the middle of a snow storm!). This home has some green features such as large sections of east and south facing windows, three heat sources: electric, propane stove and pellet stove, individual programmable thermostats in each room...that's pretty much it. Anyway, I was apologizing to the woman about the hole in the deck where the hot tub had been, and explaining that it would be repaired. Or, I said, it is allready for your hot tub. She said she's always wanted one, but her husband says they use to much energy. Turns out, she is an environmental engineer and they are both very interested in green living. Well, that provoked a lot of discussion, including one about solar or wood powered hot tubs!

This was my very first showing after finishing the on-line course! I got an email from them yesterday and it looks like they'll be making an offer.

I feel like this is a very good sign!

Good for you, I wish things were going better for me on the sales front. It's slow, slow, slow.

Environmentalist always have good reasons to be against everything, even Solar Power production facilities. It goes, the solar collectors effect plants and animals in the desert area so just say NO to Solar Power production in CA.

Saying you are for solar power while opposing solar power is called Liberal Progressive Thinking. We have a lot of that here. Bottom line, there is no perfect place to build (anything) so don't build it.

That is very frustrating. As if our current energy production methods and excesses do not affect plants and animals. Often it is a small group with a loud voice that prevents something positive from happenning due to an extreme social interest with lopsided data. I hope you can effect some change by continuing to educate people out there.

I hope things pick up for you, and for all of us in 2009...

I would love to see some sharing of how people in this group are incorporating our Green real estate education and ideals into marketing practices. Anyone game?

Dear Ellen,

There is much to consider with green real estate. I had the opportunity of attending West Coast Green Conference last year and the class that discussed green real estate did not offer the information that I could use to be more powerful in our industry. I have discussed this in length with Michael Russer of www.OnlineDominance.com, which I am a member of, and a brand new core group of Eco Brokers will be invited to participate in an EBTeam to share ideas on how we can raise our voices in the real estate industry.

I will post later today, how you can get involved at a greatly reduced rate. This is not a sales pitch for OnlineDominance. If you align yourself with the movers and shakers in the green real estate industry, not only will you prosper in 2009, but you can be a leader in your community and make changes that will affect generations to come.

Thank you for your passion Kelly. I will let you know how to get plugged into something very special.

Cherie
